Well, tell me what is so special about this type of scope?
Can you hear all that much better?
Maybe I need to get one.
How much do they cost?

- to tell you the truth... i was initially in search of a hot pink stethoscope... yeah im a kid... and a starving artist turned nursing student... so i needed so i needed something super tacky to go with my ugly puke green collared uniform... found this forum... and ended up searching for stethoscope info... and that's how i found out about the ultrascope... there are many choices and combinations to customize and engraving options to personalize it (ive read in these forums that people may steal others' stethoscopes... the good ones are pretty damn expensive)... and on the practical end, functions great... i paid $106 for the stethoscope, engraving, and s&h... and it shipped quickly from rnsupply.com
- try typing in ultrascope in the forum search to get a feel for what other people say about it... always research ur product
they also have a maxiscope, which is cheaper, if youre just searching for a colored one, without the flashy head...
I got an Ultrascope for totally different reasons. I've tried the various Littmans and the other cheaper stethoscopes. I bought the Ultrascope because of my failing hearing. I was worried that I was missing key info on my assessments. After researching, I learned that there is an Ultrascope for those like me. It's just a double tubed stethoscope but I hear so much better w/ it. Also, as was said previously, you can personalize yours. I got the black tubing w/ the milk cow looking head. I am the only person from WI working up there (other than the director) so it's not likely to get swiped.
I got the sunset beach scene with orange tubing a few weeks ago. It cost around $80 b/c the uniform store was having a 20% off sale on them through March. Kind of expensive, but it's an early graduation present. (Now if I can only last until graduation!)
Anyway, I used it for the first time at clinicals Wednesday and I was extremely pleased at how much easier it was to hear blood pressures. I was at a doc office that day, so that's pretty much all I used it for, but I've listened to my own heart and lung sounds and I just love the acoustics.
I would like to have mine engraved. Where exactly is it engraved? On the clear plastic part or on the background scene part?
The ultrascope isn't heavy at all. No problems with it slipping to one side. If anything, it's lighter than most stethescopes & much more attractive.

Jen,
Thanks so much for the info. I agree the Ultrascopes are def. much more attractive. I think all of the colors and designs are a great idea, brings you a little happiness whenever you look at it (atleast that's the way it would be with me). And it's much better than those ugly drab colors most stethoscopes come in!
