I just failed the CPNRE! :(

Published

Hey guys, I just got my results for the CPNRE exam that I took. I failed it! I’m feeling really discouraged because I thought I passed it for sure and I didn’t. I scored 99/170 which means I got 58%. It showed me the average score for cpnre is 120/170 so that’s 70%. Anyone know what I needed to pass? I am now considering taking this online course That will guarantee me passing the next time. It’s $1000 but it guarantees you 100% of passing and if I fail, money back guaranteed.

Any advice for me? Feeling so discouraged. ?

Well how about you already got this far and that's a really good start... ?

You know there's many more people who fail these tests compared to passing them right?

I think I would take time to reflect on what areas are in need of improvement.

What areas of study do you feel you need to improve on?

What kind of questions on the test you weren't sure about?

It's still fresh in your mind and so it's a good time to make a list of areas for further evaluation.

Look, we have all been there with these tests and I don't always think they are actually effective in determining everything you may, or may not know about things.

The best approach is to find a way to "beat the test." I don't mean cheating or anything, but rather finding more effective study material that burns the information into your frontal lobe faster and better than before if that makes sense. Remember, not all study materials is good and some of it is just downright confusing. Keep in mind, some study material poorly written, outdated or is just intended to take your money.

I think the thing to do here is find study material that works for "You" and your particular learning style. I found that works best.

Similarly, don't limit your study resources. The internet has everything you need. Get on places like You Tube to get explanations and understanding of various things like the Kreb Cycle, the circulatory, endocrine or reproductive system etc. Find Nurse Sarah on You Tube. She's really great at explaining things about dozens of different subjects.

"Crash course" on You Tube is another pretty good place for things like physiology, anatomy and biology.

If you need to brush up on math subjects, try Sal on Khan Academy.

Quizlet.com is another good place if you want to test your knowledge. There's hundreds of different nursing practice tests on there.

Just stick with it and study smarter, not harder. You will get this. ?

I am not familiar with the CPNRE, but I want to tell you right off the bat that looking at those scores, coming here, admitting it, asking for help and having already researched the best way to help yourself, all on top of feeling like utter poo right now shows a tremendous amount of GRIT.

You read that right. You failed the first time. So what. I failed my driver's license test the first time. Guess what? I drive every day now. This is definitely not a stopping point for you. Its going to feel icky and embarrassing and frustrating for a while - maybe for a long while. But you have already done the most important thing and looked at what you may need to do to be more successful next time. We all fail our way forward.

I do not know if the prep course you are looking at is reputable or not, but I will share with you that every important exam I have taken for getting my career where I wanted it to be, I put up the funds to take a prep course and always felt it was worth it.

Good luck and let us know when you pass it so we can cheer with you.

Sorry, from what I read on the CNO's site, they do not say the mark you need to pass.

That being said, if you had trouble answering the questions and not so much with the content, feel free to look up the YouTube channel TootRN. She has a couple of videos on her channel that shows you step by step on how to approach each question and the choose the "most correct" answer. Despite the videos having the word "NCLEX" in the title, I found it very useful for the actual exam and it definitely helped me to complete the test.

Good luck with your next attempt.

Very sorry to hear you didn't pass, I hope you don't get too discouraged and get off track with things. It looks like you've been given some good resources to help with you're studying. If I may, what is the cpnre? I'm not familiar with this type of exam.

It’s like the Nclex but for practical nursing:)

OH man, I am sorry to hear you failed this. I was routing for you. When will you write it again?

I would do the 1000 guarantee, what do you have to lose right?
