I Hope You people are never my nurses.

Because I hope I neve get sick again, and ever require your services. Not because I question your competence I would just rather avoid any situation that neccesitates putting me in your care.

This thread was meant as humor if I have crossed a line mods please shut it down. I meant to add amusement to people's lives not trivialize things.

Whew, I was worried when I saw you name on this topic. Wishing you the best of health, Gavin! May you not need care for many years.

Thank you very much. I am sorry to make this thread. Inspiration for this thread was a thread on recycled topics.

So I thought I might try to add a surprising variety to people AN experience.

I still felt a bit like I was pushing boundaries, but I was hoping people would get a kick out of it without the impression I was trying to trivialize real issues.

Honestly to me it's funny because it's true. As wonderful as nurses have been overallI still would rather have neve seen there smiling faces where I am the actual patient.

I deeply appreciate their care because at points in my life it was neccesary, but I would just as soon not have meant them in that context.

I have needed the care of nurses for myself and family. Most are great, but some are, uh, less than great. I try to look back (once I've cooled off), and reflect on what I think is "good nursing", and what may have led to not so good nursing. I hope this makes me a better nurse going forward, and something to pass on to my students.

There will always be bad nurses. Just as there will always be bad cops, doctors etc. We are people, and we make mistakes even the best of us.

That doesn't mean we chalk it all up as futile, and not strive for better. It does mean however walking a fine line in correcting oneself while being confident enough in oneself to be effective overall.

Untill robots replace us all regardless of our job descriptions there is going to be a mix of good and bad for us all.

Overall all I feel like nursing is more positive than negative, and the entire medical field. The entire of humanity.

As crappy as we can be at times I think most of us care. It's just we can't just snap our fingers and fix everything so we get exasperated at times.

I always tell my ED patients that it's been great taking care of them and I hope to never seen them again. :roflmao:

As a side note. I want a nurse robot. Then I can send it into work for me while I stay home and eat chocolate cake.

You know the downside of that though. When your nurse robot came home it would likely be programmed to endlessly lecture you on the dangers of consuming to much chocolate cake.

When I worked in oncology and other USAF folks would ask me what I do, I used to tell them "and I really hope I never run into you at work".

Not dark humor in my case! :)

I appreciate the humor!

Thank you I felt like I might have made to many qualifying statements on the humor for it actually to be enjoyable, or that people might get offended that I was trivializing things.

I went the safe route which leads to being a little less funny.
