I got reprimanded at work for not using a bra !

Published

Something happened to me at Wednesday that i thought i would never hear.

I was told by my team leader that bouncing breasts are very inappropriate in the workplace.

There had been several complains on me for a long time (she claims).

And that i from now on, always had to use a bra.

Was she right to correct me like that, should i complain on her ?

Duh ... Not wearing a bra is very inappropriate. Bouncing breasts in the setting of patient care, and life/death situations? Back up your ego and put your brests away.

If your team leader is saying people have been complaining, then yeah, people have been complaining. Yes, you should have to wear a bra!!! And undergarments that do not show through your uniform. The fact that someone addressed it with you is evidence enough that it is noticable that you don't have one on. Consider it part of your uniform. Instead of being upset that someone said something, be grateful that they told you about it and spared you further embarrassment.

I cannot believe you have a problem with this!

You're a nurse for goodness sake.

You have a responsibility to your profession.

Personally I think all nurses should let those babies loose, and purchase their uniforms from Fredricks of Hollywood complete with 4 inch pumps. It would certainly make my 12 hour shift more rewarding.

Well, it is a start. I already enjoy work, I think I could enjoy it more!

Hehe, you gentlemen will be so sad when this thread dies. I may have to come up with a new boobie topic.:typing

Why are you suprised or offended about be reprimanded for not wearing a bra? Did you skip the part on professional ethics, conduct, ect when in school? :icon_roll Definately wear a bra to work, please!!!!! The focus should be on patient care not looking the nurse up and down. :nono:

"All nurses" would include the male nurses, too! Hmmm, I'd like to see them going up and down those hallways in 4 inch pumps! I think the ER would be very busy with sprains, strains and fractures (not to mention bruised egos):D

Personally I think ALL women should wear a Bra in ALL workplaces. It is more professional, and in this job, it can also be a safety issue to have those puppies hanging loose! If you are getting shoulder pain, you are not wearing a correctly fitted bra. Go to a decent, reputable lingerie shop and have one professionally fitted, even if it is just a sports bra with soft, wide straps. My god, If I showed up on clinical without one, I would fail on the spot for --what did they call it?--"conduct, hygiene and/or appearance unbecoming of a professional", according to my university! :twocents:

The fact that this never crossed your mind, is perhaps another good reason to wear a bra :).

I don't think my manager was wrong to point this out since it had created a few reactions. My first reaction was that she could have told me before. Still it's my responsibility entirely. I thought that giving my shoulders a rest from the bra some times would go unnoticed. It did not, and far from it. BTW "Grateful4Blessings" i work with rehabilitation, so there is no life and death situation, (not that it matters).

My biggest concern now is that i hope i will not be remembered as the braless nurse :(. I am always using a bra at work now, still i feel some anxiety for jiggling. I am glad that every one has given their honest opinion. Still i am slightly surprised of all the reactions. Are there so few that have never reflected over how not using a bra in the western culture have become so stigmatised ? Is it really just if a woman are wearing a bra because they believe that it is part of the cultural norm and that not wearing a bra would lead to social exclusion ?

I haven't tried, but i am sure i will not pass the pencil test (or even a dozen pencils).

After what I can remember, my size is 40ddd so i have a hard time finding good ones.

But i will consider getting a professional bra fitting :)

Oh dear.

No wonder she wants you to wear a bra. Sweetie, I'm sure you know your boobs will SAG a lot faster and a lot LONGER DOWN if you go around without a bra.

You're boobs are big enough that you should be wearing a bra, ALL THE TIME.

Don't just consider a professional fitting, GO DO IT TOMORROW! For the sake of your shoulders and your back... Good luck!

What emotional trauma, Laugh Lines.

Have you ever noticed guys who go commando, when they go to the mens room and they come out they always have a few drops left and a little wet spot. Why doesn't this embarass them. truly.

OMG ROFLMAO!

Well, I guess if they are crazy enough to go comando, then they really don't give a crap what it looks like, therefore drops of pee on the front of their pants don't even cross their minds. lol
