So I am in the 3rd week of my second quarter at ITT-Tech in Phoenix. I am not going to lie, the first quarter nursing class is very boring and dry, but it is picking up a bit in this quarter. In our first quarter (11 weeks) we basically learned the history of nursing, the nursing process, and a brief intro to nursing diagnosis.
In the second quarter we have began doing labs. So far we have done mostly CNA stuff, which is fine.
I am basically just curious if this sounds somewhat similar to other schools. We only go 1 day a week (for nursing), for 4 hours. (we also have other classes like math, anatomy and physiolgy ect ect for a total of 3 classes a quarter, so 3 days a week in all)
I am also more then happy to answer any questions you have about the school.
PS. Just so you know, I am enjoying the program, I am just curious how other schools do things.
Thanks in advance!
Well I will be attending ITT Tech in Merriville Indiana the september program, I'm very excited to start the program! Regardless of the negativity i've read so far a RN is a RN anywhere if the Nclex test can be successfully passed then I doubt hospitals/medical facilities turn you down due to the school you graduated from =)..thats just my opinion though! Good Luck to everyone in the program!!
TO the itt tech students and grads....Dont listen to the critics...I just want to say im proud of you guys for following your dreams..I've have called a couple of schools who will take your degree from the itt tech nursing program. All you have to do is have graduated from nursing program or have your current RN license. These schools are also acreddited. One is jacksonville school of nursing. They are accredited through the ccne and University of Texas Arlington RN TO BSN also accredited. These are bridge programs. If you graduated from a adn program they will accept you. Or either have a current rn license which you will have if you pass your nclex...and i believe the university of phoenix rn to bsn bridge does too.. There is alot of these schools all you have to do is call and ask...These critics are either upset that they had to go to school for 8 years to become an rn, getting pre reqs done, going through 3 or 4 waiting lists.. and so on...They are upset they did not have this opportunity back then. If Itt tech was not legit they would not be accepted by the state boards of all these states that have the program. They are in application status from the nlnac and from what I hear there have been hardly any programs rejected.
to the ITT students in PHX, do you know if they accept credits from maricopa? i have basically all of my pre-reqs done because i was applying into the program at ASU and am wondering if i am going to have to take my eng, bio, micro, psy, soc, mat classes all over again? also does anyone know if asu accepts the degree from ITT for the RN-BSN program?

I'm a critic, but I'm not upset at all....I got in to my school the first time I applied, no wait lists and certainly a whole lot less then 8 years. ITT Tech provides no opportunity that I feared I missed.
I am a critic because they charge way to much money for a college degree that most other colleges will not recognize. I hate when organizations take advantage of people when they feel desperate.
They might charge alot of money, but you always have to pay for convenience in this country that is how it works. Less time in school and schedules that let you keep your job and raise a family at the same time. Why not. For some people this is the only way. Please you may have your own opinion but remember there are students on here that are attending that school. So show some respect. Go on some other website and slander those who are not trying to get anywhere. Go on to your states welfare website and slander those people on there. I thought this was a website for nurses trying to help other nurses or people trying to be a nurse. From what I see there are alot of people on here offering their criticism but no real advice. I will lead by example and hopefully every other person will continue to treat others with respect. Here we go.....There are people on here that went to a traditional college. Im proud of you. Then there are people on here that went to private colleges. Im proud of you. One paid less than the other. We all get that already....The traditional ones allow for credits to transfer..and some of them dont even take transfers from other traditional shools.. And the private ones cant transfer any credits....We all get that and know that.....But in the end all the students can take the nclex and become nurses some faster than others!!!!!Your state boards says so. And nobody can stop them.

Slander is the defamation of a person in spoken word, as we're typing and not speaking and I'm stating truthful statements about an institution (as opposed to a person) nothing I'm saying is slander.
Libel is closer, since we're writing....but again, nothing I'm stating is untrue and we're not speaking about a person.
This is an appropriate place to have this discussion, whether you like the reality or not. You seem to think that the critics of for-profit, private schools are just trying to ruin your day. That's simply not the case. Law suit after law suit shows the predatory behavior of these kinds of schools. Below is a link to yet another article in the NY Times about this issue. Speaking the truth about these issues, is not disrespect, speaking the truth so that people can make informed decisions is the highest level of respect. People are getting lied to and misled, and then entering into enormous amounts of debt because of those lies and misleading statements. Speaking the truth about this issue so that less people are victimized is the most respectable thing I can think of.
I'm sorry you see it as disrespect, but I respect pre-nursing students far to much to stop speaking the truth due to your opinion on this.

Slander: (n) words falsely spoken that damage the reputation of another
Libel: (n) a false and malicious publication printed for the purpose of defaming a living person
Everyone is going to have their opinions all across the board. The simple fact of the matter is as follows:
(for the Jacksonville, FL campus)
- ITT Tech's ADN program is 57,000
- You pass the HESSI and you score with the top 30, you are accepted.
- You do not need prerequisites.
- There are A LOT of contracts established with the many Health Care facilities and hospitals around the area for
clinicals. In fact, they have more than some of the other colleges in town.
A agree with the previous 'commodity' comment stated earlier. I have come across many individuals who gave up due the waiting lists from other schools. Individuals who had A's and B's. People are deducted eligibility points just for being Caucasian, female etc.
I started the program about 3 months ago, and I will graduate in about 1 year and 3 months. (thanks to xfer credits)
Like the previous person had stated; as soon as I pass the boards I will become an RN and no one can tell you different.
Would you like to wait years and years for the opportunity at an education in Nursing? Or would you like to receive that education and become an RN in about 2 years (depending on your specific situation).
For those of you students who are aspiring to become RN's just like myself; take all things into consideration and make a calculated decision. On a personal note, I plan on completing my ADN, and obtain my MSN through an ADN to MSN bridge program (maybe a specialization in Cardio).
I will have an MSN in around 3 years (if everything goes smooth with working and scheduling).
As far as my opinion on ITT, so far so good. Nursing program is ran by an established and recognized person in the community and the curriculum seemed promising since day one.
On another matter, I agree with curiousME. There was so 'slander' coming from the message. This is a forum for students and future students. Providing support requires informing the good and the bad alike. From there anyone can decide for themselves what school they want to attend to, how much money they feel like spending, how much time and energy etc.
If I am a future customer, I want to know the bad and I welcome it.

ITT Tech was later cleared of those charges.
