I go to ITT-Tech...

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So I am in the 3rd week of my second quarter at ITT-Tech in Phoenix. I am not going to lie, the first quarter nursing class is very boring and dry, but it is picking up a bit in this quarter. In our first quarter (11 weeks) we basically learned the history of nursing, the nursing process, and a brief intro to nursing diagnosis.

In the second quarter we have began doing labs. So far we have done mostly CNA stuff, which is fine.

I am basically just curious if this sounds somewhat similar to other schools. We only go 1 day a week (for nursing), for 4 hours. (we also have other classes like math, anatomy and physiolgy ect ect for a total of 3 classes a quarter, so 3 days a week in all)

I am also more then happy to answer any questions you have about the school.

PS. Just so you know, I am enjoying the program, I am just curious how other schools do things.

Thanks in advance!

I got my offical acceptance letter yesterday in the mail! I start 3-14-2011! YEA!!! That's when I wanted to start. I have to move from San Diego to Phoenix to go to school so I needed the time but I am so excited. Orientation is 3 weeks before school starts. Anyone else going to be attending at the same time?

Very exciting!! I hope I find out sooner rather than later... I think we won't find out until August if we are starting in the September class though. :(

can anyone compare itt tech to hondros school of nursing? hondros is on the nlnac website for candidacy, and itt tech to my knowledge is not. Can anyone tell me whats itt tech's status? the one in fort wayne, indiana?

and i took my hesi and got a 86.78 on it, can anyone tell me how that score would be considered?

Hondros of Ohio is in candidate statues for nlnac from June 201o to June 2012 and ITT Tech is in candidate status from June 2009 to June 2011. Anyone can look this up on thier website under nlnac candidates. Hope this helps to clear some things up.

okay so im applying to ITT tech with a hesi score of 86.78% do u think i have a chance?

I got an 86.5 or an 87.5 can't remember exactly but I already got my acceptance letter for the March class for 2011, so you have a very good chance. I wanted March 2011. Which start date do you want. They normally don't send out acceptance letters until a month before the class start date but I am actually moving from 1 state to another to go to school so I was able to get my acceptance letter early so I could plan and move ahead of time. Also, if you have any of the general education classes done that will cut way done on your cost too but if they are over 7 years old ITT doesn't accept them. My English classes are older than 7 years HOWEVER I talked to them about the Comp I and II and since I have already taken it even tho it has been more than 7 years I can take the test and if I pass then I don't have to take the classes and I am pretty good in English, I will just skim over the Clep book before I test. I have almost all my general education done so I just have nursing classes to do. Good luck to you.

What did everyone get on the Hesi? I took mine and scored a 86%, how is that ranking among other ITT students?

I got an 82 and was accepted in Indiana (merriville campus)

So how are things going in the nursing program? I start in Indiana sept 2010.

I got an 82 and was accepted in Indiana (merriville campus)

I got an 87 and will start in September in Merrillville.....when will you start?

why won't most non-profits take any credits from for profit schools? there are about zero for profit private colleges that are well respected educational institutions. why is this? because people go to for profit schools because they cannot get into the cheaper but more competitive non-profits. combine that with the willingness of for-profit schools to drop their academic standards in order to keep the money rolling, and those "hoity-toity" non-profits, who won't always accept everything from each other, want nothing to do with the for-profits.

sorry but that's bs! and not necessarily true! i attended devry university. i did this because several years ago i was working 2 jobs and devry was the only school that allowed me to attend classes 100% online (sure there was uop as well, etc but i chose devry u.).

and guess what? after devry i used that "for profit degree" to apply to traditional "non-profit" university - which accepted me with no problems.

so there are opportunities and now-a-days, not everyone have the ability to attend more traditional in-class non-profits universities.

.....that's my argument!! :)

I personally have heard so many horror stories about schools like ITT Tech that I would never recommend them to anyone. ITT's headquarters are here in my home state of Indiana, and their corporate offices were raided not that long ago because they had been accused of falsifying various documents.

I think that a lot of these schools have heard about the nursing shortage (obviously opinions vary on that issue) and have decided to use that as a way of recruiting more students. For-profit schools employ recruiters who use high-pressure sales techniques to get prospective students to "sign on the dotted line," and in many cases, take out thousands of dollars in high-interest loans.

I'm not saying that everyone who goes through a for-profit school will have a bad experience. Obviously that's not the case. But from what I've heard, read, and seen on the news, I would never recommend attending one.

I got about the same kind of feedback in California. The general education classes at ITT Tech may not transfer to other colleges, but I am not worried about that, I have already done all thoses classes, HOWEVER, the CORE nursing classes are the same and will generally be accepted as along as the I am eliglible to sit for the NCLEX after completing school.

So many people worry about transferring credits but I have had regular community colleges from one state not accept credits from other community colleges from another state I am talking regular math classes, sciences classes, just regular stuff, I have moved often being military or a military spouse.

Everyone has to make their own decision about what school they wish to attend and other people should respect that. You have some people who go to the best nursing schools and are the worse nurses and some people who go to schools that are just getting up and running yet they are wonderful nurses.

I am a certified surgical tech and have been working the O.R. for 5 years and I have seen all kinds of nurses.
