Is that rare? Or do nurses tend to exaggerate? I do what I gotta do and on time.

We do a group report and assignment divvy at shift change If I'm getting out late, it's usually because that report ran long. Or if I have a lot of drips/PCAs/whatever that require double sign-off at shift change.

I do get out on time and I love it, I had a position where I was always working and hardly ever got out on time but with my new job...ahhh I am out of here sometimes 5 min early

I also get out on time, get a lunch and take bathroom breaks as needed. I often wondered if I was the only one or if I'm doing something wrong by not running around like a headless chicken with a full bladder and empty stomach?

What is exactly "on time"? 7pm?? No one I have ever come across has left at 7pm before. It's always 7:30-8:00.

Night shift arrives at 7pm for report, and usually I get out before 8pm. That is my definition of "on time".
If I am lucky, my day is uneventful and I give the patients back to the night nurse who gave me report at the start of my shift and I leave in 15 minutes or less.

On time is 7:30 for me. Some people I work with will never leave on time even if they have the easiest assignments.

A pet peeve of mine is nurses who never leave on time and then insinuate that those of us who do must be cutting corners.

I get in a little before 7 and my managers stated i have to be out by 3:30 pm. I work on inpatient acute psych. I notice a lot of nurses taking a lot more time then i do. I always feel like i am doing something wrong or not doing enough.

Depends on the day. Ususally I'm ready to give report on time and the nurse (s) following me aren't ready to take report. Sigh.

It really depends on the facility. Some nurses who don't get out on time really are doing more. Some who do get out on time really are doing less. Some are doing the job well either way and the situation just allows or doesn't allow for getting out on time.
