I think I have finally decided to go the STLCC route! I've been stressing about it all week and this is the best decision for me and my family. We will have to postpone building our dream house and having a second child for about 4 years but it will be so worth it. I'm taking BIO and CHEM this summer and then on to A&P, MicroBIO and Human Growth. Then I'll sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting for my letter! You all have been such a great help in making my decision. I'm so glad I found this board!

Wonderful! Best of luck to you and your family as you pursue your dream of a nursing career, and a belated welcome to allnurses! :welcome:
Thanks so much! I do already feel better now that I have made my decision. I'm the kind of person who really needs to have a plan in place. I'll probably sleep better tonight. Well, that depends on how my 16 month old sleeps.

I don't think you'll be sorry. I really am pleased so far with my education and the college program as a whole.
If I can help answer any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Good luck with finishing those prereqs....are you taking the online chem this summer as I had mentioned before? Are you applying to more than one campus?!?!

Congratulations! I'm at SLCC Forest Park and love it there! You won't regret your decision. Good luck with your pre-reqs!
I love Meramec, but I have also heard terrific things about FP....I think they might move a bit quicker through their list, so you may want to be sure you apply to both campuses (which is what I had originally done -- FP called me up 1 semester before Meramec).
I am taking both Chem and BIO online this summer. I'm going to do all of my prereqs at night, online or on the weekends so that I don't have to put my son in daycare until I start the program. Saves me some money!
I did the same thing....took Chemistry and Bio online while my youngest daughter was a preschooler. I also took Sociology, Psychology and Human Growth and Development as either online or telecourses. Took all 3 of those in one semester. Boy did I ooze psychology/sociology from every pore that semester!LOL!
Sounds like you are excited about your decision! Best of luck!:balloons:

just wanted to mention that all three stlcc have "campus care." it is cheap child care for the hours that you are physically in school, i believe $2 per hour. you are allowed to drop off 15 minutes before class and must pick your child up 15 after class. i have heard they are flexible for the nursing student's clinicals. my daughter attends flo's child development center and loves it.
