I FINALLY DID IT!!!!!!!

Published

:yeah::yeah: Finally after 2 years and five attempts, i passed on my sixth try!!!! I was so close to just giving up and throwing in the towel, i am so happy i did not give up!:yeah: To anyone out there who has taken this NCLEX multiple times and still has not passed.....DO NOT GIVE UP!!! I got myself tutored one on one and it truely helped me, i got tutored and prepared for nine months. It seemed as if i were never going to ready for it but i got the help i needed! Along with god guiding my way and so many prayers i finally passed the NCLEX- RN!!! I found out i passed last wednesday and i have been on cloud nine ever since! I had 75 questions on the test and i left the test center feeling very discouraged because the last time i tested i also got only 75 and failed, so i was very upset when i left thinking i totally bombed it again. Don't let the number of questions intimidate you! I took two breaks throughout my test and i reccommend taking the breaks to anyone taking it just to get yourself refocused and also to take a little snack to keep your mind recharged. There were many times i would come on here to read insightful messeges when i was down and discouraged about my trouble with the NCLEX and it really helped me, i hope i can do the same for someone. Just believe in yourself and when ready to take the test, keep telling yourself "I WILL BE A NURSE, AND I WILL BE A NURSE TOMORROW":D

Thank you everyone!!! So like i said i took the test six times! I know more than anyone how hard it is to keep yourself motivated and head strong to get through it. When i took it for the 3rd and 4th time, i was so disgusted at this point that i was just taking the test to take it. I really wasn't putting the time and effort into preparing myself because i was so discouraged. That was my biggest mistake. By my 5th time i had done studing on my own ( questions, trying to read over my nursing text books, and notes) this did not work for me and i do not reccomend re-reading nursing text books it will just overwhelm you. So right after i failed fro the 5th time i was on a waiting list for a tutor. I last took the test July 21,2008 and did not get with a tutor until Jan. 2009, so i waited a long time. The thing that my tutor was able to help me with the most was my negative thinking...by failing 5 times i was pretty down on myself. She really was able to refocus my mind in the positive way. Also she helped my ability to think through the questions but not over think (which i would always read into questions and add things that were not there). I had a strict study plan of doing questions everyday and writing my thoughts in a daily log. The daily log helped me get all my thoughts on paper so my mind was not preoccupied with things i was worried about while trying to do my questions. Even if i didn't do questions a certain day i would still write in my log. Its like taking everything that is stuck in the back of my mind taking up valuable learning space disappered when i wrote it down. It was my stress therapy! I always thought i lacked on nursing knowledge, but that wasn't the case at all. Even if you have no clue what an answer to a question may, its the way you think through it that will get you the right answer. I hope this helps! (Sorry if i rambled!):D YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! And remember, the NCLEX test basic, functional, safe nursing practice.

To add to what i just wrote...while doing questions i kept a separate piece of paper handy for when i went over the correst answers. If there is a topic or topics of questions that you keep getting wrong, write it down and review it for 15 minutes a day. I did not spend a whole lot of time trying to relearn information.

Congratulations nurse. how did you finally do it? how did u get the one on one tutoring? i need this for mine, thanks.

I live in the Pittsburgh,Pa area and the tutor i went through was STAT nursing consultants. I heard about them through a friend plus they did an NCLEX workshop at my school. But i would maybe check to see if your school could refer you to someone.
