I failed nursing school because of one thing and am embarrassed to go back

Published

I attended nursing school for my LPN and failed one thing and it caused me to fail the program but I did finish up several of my classes so if I go back I don't have to redo them. But I'm feel so humiliated and embarrassed to go back. I want to finish it but I just don't want to see them again. What should I do. Should I just swallow my pride and go back or should I find a new career. I ultimately want to become a physician's Assistant but the nursing school is only 10 minutes away from where I live and I thought this would be a good starting point for me and would show me whether I really am suited for working in the medical field. Also, it would definitely give me experience for the possibility of becoming a P.A.. What do you think, should I just go back or should I find some other career?

Don't give up. You aren't the first to fail out and won't be the last. Keep on truckin'.

I say go back 100%, you may feel ashamed (which I don't see why because you are not the first that has had this happen), but in the end it will all be worth it.

You should see how many people failed out my program, come back, and proudly sit at lunch with their former classmates that will graduate without them. If you really want it, you'll go for it. I say go back.

You shouldnt be ashamed and or care what others think or have to say why change careers because of your pride? Go back and finish

Don't give up. It doesn't matter what other people think. It matters what you think and what you want. Nursing school is very hard, and many people don't succeed the first time. They've gone back and become great nurses.

You should move on. Starting as an LPN is not going to help you achieve your PA. You need to find a nice 4 year college and start in on that undergraduate.

The jobs are difficult to come by as an LPN and you need to have a heavier focus on science before you get your PA. Take ur credits from LPN school and challenge the CNA boards. Become a CNA for a few months to lend flexible scheduling and earned clinical hours prior to app'ing to PA school.

Forego your LPN and reach for that PA. If you take your LPN, it will be like grabbing warm, already opened mayo when you were expecting slightly refrigerated honey Dijon mustard. Not to mention, as a PA you will find no shortage of jobs, unlike the already sardined nursing field

Like the other posters said , you aren't the first or the last to fail nursing school! You should go back pass and get your license and then pursue your dream of becoming a PA I would not recommend becoming a CNA the work is hard and the pay is very little for what you have to do! 3 people failed out in med surg one in my school and they came back! Nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about, you can do it!!

If I were to find out that the person sitting next to me in nursing school had failed and had the courage and perseverance to come BACK, I would be absolutely immersed in admiration for that person. IMMERSED. Go back!

Whatever your decision, don't give up on your dreams..Go RIGHT back to school and finish your education.

I totally agree!!! Go back! Don't finish til u get where u wanna be. And please don't become a CNA. The work is hard, the pay is little and as a LPN u can work at a nursing home, til have the flexiable hrs. (12hrs shifts or 8hrs) and be able to pay the bills.

Amen! Shows true commitment.
