It's getting ridiculous already on how I keep trying for my NCLEX and still not working! What am I doing wrong?! I studied EVERYTHING!!! And i mean everything. I feel so dumb already. Right now I am in limbo.
Should I jump right back in with reviewing because I want to take the test again after the 45 day waiting period or take a break? I don't want to waste my time with waiting and at the same time I want to get my license this year. I am so tired of trying this is my 7th time and i still failed! I am running out of hope! It seems like God never wants me to pass! I am so hopeless and frustrated and so tired of studying.
The last test I took I ran out of time. I took the review from Delmar's and passed all my mock test. I can't seem to get a hold of my test anxiety! Can someone out there please hear me out. I am so desperate to the point where I'm an inch away from giving up
Don't pay no mind to those comments who make you feel you more devastating, just focus in your future. Everybody is different, so keep trying, and you see that you going to pass, in the name of Jesus.
Would YOU want someone who can't pass the NCLEX after 3 tries to be your nurse? I wouldn't. How will they act when/if they get a job & have all that stress. Unless that person works PDN, they will have a lot of patients under their care, not just the 1-3 they had in clinicals.
I believe in God, but he doesn't give licenses. If it is taking that many tries, it probably isn't in the cards for the OP. The OP passed tests in the pre reqs, possibly a test to get INTO the program & IN the program.
How does somebody pass nursing school (which presumably involves passing tests) and then think they can use test anxiety as an excuse for failing a basic nursing competency exam SEVEN times? An exam that close to 90% of people pass the first time they lay eyes on it?
No matter what you think or what people who don't know you at all think, there is no evidence here that you would be a great nurse. Wanting it harder or being a caring paaaassssssionnnate person won't do it, either-- remember the old J&J ads: "If caring were enough anyone could be a nurse." You know what? NOT everyone can be a nurse.
And where are you? Many state boards of nursing won't let you keep taking it indefinitely without requiring you to take a refresher course.
Seriously, dear, in all charity, if you are a real person and not somebody spoofing us all, I suggest you think about going to your college placement office and having them help you find some other way to use what you learned in nursing school, because it really doesn't sound like being an RN is in the cards. Enough is enough.
^^^THIS^^^ I am one of those meanie, non compassionate people who think a reality check is in order. I actually think there should be nation wide rules on how often one can attempt this very important exam. It is easy to blame test anxiety but at a certain point we need to be honest with ourselves and reevaluate our path in life. Also, notice that most people here who are cheering on the OP saying they will be a great nurse (based on what?), or just to pray more (maybe the answer is no?) have yet to pass NCLEX. Those of us who encourage OP to reflect honestly tend to already be nurses and we truly are trying to protect our patients as well as our chosen profession. Please understand from where we are coming.
Here in Ohio the BON has on their website how many times you taken the test by your name now in 2014.By my name one time it has close, and now it has available to take the test .I am retake available on BON website....LOL..This has been a learning lesson for me to be ready . I also think you have to know what review class you can get something out of. There is so many of them, Kaplan, Remar, Ncsbn,Hurst, and the list goes on. Just be careful it can cost you a lot of money and you still failed the test. What I found for myself is to team up with someone and do small part everyday, then review what you learned ...good luck
I am not a religious person; however, as you mentioned that it seems God doesn't want you to pass, perhaps that's the message you need to receive. Not everyone can be a nurse, and sometimes the answer to a prayer is "no". Harsh? Maybe, but that's the truth.
It's also important to remember that NCLEX is a test of minimum competency to be granted a license. While it may not be required by your state BON to sit again for NCLEX, perhaps you need a refresher course. As someone else already mentioned, 7 failures does not speak to test anxiety; it speaks to a deeper problem. You need to figure out what that problem is, and then evaluate if nursing is the path for you.
What you have to realize is that
#1 you graduated from nursing school, you have what it takes AND YOU ARE SMART!
#2 the NCLEX is merely an exam. I want you to take the weight of it off, don't think of it any longer as a huge exam that will hold your life in its hands. Just think of it as a simple test that is testing you on minimal competency.
#3 do not ever listen to anyone tell you that you cannot do it. If this is what you truly want you can do it!
#4 I don't know if you pray or read your bible, but I would like to give you a few scriptures that helped me while i was studying for this exam.
Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 41:13
Philippians 4:6-9
Philippians 4:13
James 1:5
Jeremiah 33:3
Begin to build your confidence, look yourself in mirror and say I will become an RN, I printed out my name, with RN next to and my test date and posted it through out my apartment. Don't call yourself dumb or stupid, but say out loud that you will pass your exam daily!
one other thing i might suggest, is Hurst review
You will do fine!
I don't think so. The OP needs a reality check, like someone already stated. Seven times is more than enough to get the hang of the test & pass it. But I guess if the OP has the money to throw away on multiple reviews & tests then go for it.
I'm a firm believer its not what you say, but instead how you say it, and to me that was rude. everyone is entitled to their opinions, which is fine. there are some who feel she has a deeper issue and doesn't need to be a nurse, while there are others cheering her on to keep going. but just remember there are nurses out there who have passed their exam the first time who suck at being a nurse, also there are a lot of nurses who have harmed patients, stolen narcotics and so forth.... to me the way the comment was said to her was very harsh!
And don't give up! The hard part is behind you all the schooling. This is your last hurdle and you will achieve it.
When one becomes a nurse, the NCLEX is the LEAST of all the hurdles in the horizon.
There are plenty, PLENTY more hurdles in store, ones that do not come with Kaplan reviews and re-do's.

please do not give up , i think you need to tell yourself everyday that you are going to pass this exam and envision yourself taking the exam and doing the trick and getting the good pop and most importantly pray. you can do it all the best!
