I worked this weekend it was moderatly busy had a pt in the waiting room so I went down to get her registered.

I asked her "What brings you in to the ER tonight?"

She says "I think I dislocated my kidney and now I can't poop.":confused:

I asked her how this could happen, trying to keep a straight face.

She said she was wrestling around w/ her son and now her kidney was dislocated. Then she procedes to tell me "I normally poop every day but after this happened I was not able to poop today!"

I seriously had to hold it together because I was about to bust a gut when she said that. :lol2:

Craziest thing I've heard so far!

i'm sure her pooper was working fine back then.

You don't have a baby with your pooper. She probably doesn't know that, however.

Oh My goodness. I lost it when I read her pooper was probley working just fine then. It's no wonder we are all not flipping nuts ourselves. Thanks for the laugh. There is no way I could work ER. Keep them coming. Maybe you should hand out smarties in the ER and maybe there would grow some brains? :) Have a great day dayshift and sleep well night shift! :) I"m off to bed.

:DThat's funny, cuz this one time I sprained my pancreas and couldn't sneeze...

LMAO!! :rotfl::rotfl: NOW I gotta go find a Depends!:D

OMG! I've had a crappy day and that story had me ROTFL. Thank you!!:chuckle

we had a sad couple come in. he was an abuser. that night was like every other, he came home drunk and started hitting his wife. she decided enough was enough and she beat him in the head with her son's baseball bat. he ended up in the unit and eventually died. she was in for about a week on the medical floor. she was never charged with anything.

that is sad. i can't stand it when people abuse their partners, children, animals, parents, etc. it's a form of mental illness, in my opinion.

we were called to a scene response to fly a man with a closed head injury. he was unconscious, drunk and very bloody when we arrived. by the time we got into the er he was awake and yelling "they messed with the wrong man this time!!"

later we found out that he had been knocking his girlfriend around and her 10 yr. old son came in the room and completely whooped his a-- with a whiffle ball bat!! we thought, "yeah, you are the man aren't ya!!"

I too thought that this was a personal matter of the poster, but now I know different. This gave me a great laugh, but I have one better: a couple of years ago when I was a LPN working in the ER, we had a young lady that came in via EMS. Her complaint: she was having sex with her boyfriend and her ear became plugged. She honestly came in via ambulance. Our charge nurse made her walk out to triage and then gave her a stern lecture about tying up an ambulance for something so dumb. And the fact that she was a minor, her mom was going to have to foot the bill. I think that really put the fear in her. What a waste of our emergency services.

I thought that was YOUR complaint when I opened up this thread. I wonder how one goes about dislocating a kidney. :-)

Ditto! I thought it was a legit complaint! Til I saw the post...:chuckle
