Hello everyone, I recently graduated in May and could not afford Kaplan. I have been looking around for a good study book does anyone know of any good books that may help?
I have been to the Kaplan live classes and found them to help so much. Saunders is good for basic content but you must be at the application and analysis stage in order to pass the NCLEX.
If you can't afford the Kaplan program, try buying the book as used. I have seen them for about 30.00 and pay attention how they do the stratigies on how to pick out the right answer. Yes, you do need content to pass the test as well, but IMO, Kaplan adds just that much more for a sucessful attempt at passing.
Approx 150 questions a day is good but make sure you understand the rationalle of the questions and don't just try to memorize the question answers. Make sure you know how to prioritize patients, know lab values and proper delegation.
Kaplan questions are exactly like the actual NCLEX.
Good luck!
Yes it is possible to over do it with questions. I would suggest do 100-200 a day and no more. You need to give your brain chance to assimilate what it is learning and doing several hours a day (over 3 hours) can overload the brain and it stops leaning. You can still aim for 3000 questions the importance is making sure you understand content and what the question is asking.
totally agree!
I just took NCLEX on thursday and passed. I also didnt have any money for kaplan but i used, Saunders w/CD, Mosby w/CD, and i paid $40 for the question bank available at the ncsbn.org website. When u use these books with CDs make sure you are doing the different types of questions. The CDs let you customize a quiz or exam...make sure you take FULL advantage of that option so you can make sure your doing the NCLEX type questions.

Hey i just started exam cram i feel really good on the practice test in the book i got an average of 80. I am going to do the mock test this weekend to see how i feel. I find the questions pretty easy which kinda scares me. I done every review book question you can think of like nclex 3500, 4000, saunders 4 ed, saunders q&A, and mosby, and hurst review and lacharity priorization. I think i be doing questions so much for a long time i dont know whats hard. I have done kaplan review class in the past but didnt find it helpful but I think my content area was low. Now i my content is much better I got kaplan book and going to do the cd. I hope this will be the end of me buying anymore nclex questions. I test on next friday i think after this week and monday i will be ready to conquer this test. I need to lock down my test taking tips more. Any advice that can help me at this point??
if you ve used exam cram, nclex 4000 and mosby and did well in these , you got a good chance of passing at 75 questions, trust me. mosby is one of the most difficult and closest to the nclex, exam cram is more like the exam itself and nclex 4000 is great. keep drilling yourself man and you ll do well. i got a feeling you are ready. forget kaplan, the above 3 are good enough.good luck.
hi there.. im trying to find review materials that can be helpful for nclex rn.. all i have at the moment is saunders compre book 4th ed.. i cant afford the kaplan review.. i was thinking of buying the exam cram coz many members here are suggesting it.. but i found out that there is an exam cram book and another exam cram questions book i think.. what's the difference? or the saunder's Q&A.. which one's better? i do not have the luxury to but every book available.. help!
