You are the only confused one here, if you had common sense you would know that I must be taking a statistics class to be interested in the subject but I guess common sense in not really common at all. Guess you have never explored on your own out of curiosity, pity you.
A piece of advice. Telling me to get real and saying that kbrn lacks common sense is not a strategy I'd recommend since you've actually come here soliciting our help. Wouldn't looking at the links provided be a more constructive use of your time than arguing with us? I haven't watched all the clips that AliNajaCat linked, but I took a peek at two of them and they seem helpful.
I sense that you're acting defensively and perhaps you somehow feel slighted, but try to look at the replies that you've gotten as an attempt to help you figure out the answer to your question. Personally I'm currently being offered the ridiculous amount ~$200/hour if I pick up one/several overtime shift/s, instead I sit here trying to help you at the paltry pay rate of $0/hour
The question was posted in a general area but was removed to the student area by the administration.
I realize that. The admins merged your two threads and moved it to the subforum where it belongs. You are asking for assistance with interpreting your tables after all, and you are currently studying statistics. Right?
Everyone uses different study techniques, so it's not one size fits all. But if I may offer you another piece of advice. I think that plugging in random numbers for various variables in a table and based on the result attempt to figure out what the different variables signify, is a rather bass-ackwards approach. If you take the time to figure out what each of the variables in your tables mean, you will automatically gain the ability to interpret what information/result the tables provide regarding the hypothesis.
Good luck!
Not arguing at all just trying to learn and definately not looking to be spoon fed, I welcome any respurces but I dont think that it hurts to explore. If you feel offended my apologies but for the future never jump to assumptions, Maybe asking a question will give you an idea of where someone is coming coming from. Thanks anyway
Okay lets try to get this sorted out - posts that are asking for assistance from students do better if placed in the nursing student assistance forum which is why it was moved.
Several posters have attempted to help you and as I stated (back on page 1) we just need a little clarification as to what work you have done first to help to answer your question.
Not arguing at all just trying to learn and definately not looking to be spoon fed, I welcome any respurces but I dont think that it hurts to explore…
Yes, you were. You posted your question, without any evidence of having tried to understand or research it, twice. After the first post you were provided a number of links. Then when it was suggested that, when posting homework you explain what you have found on your own you responded.
Actually, this is not a homework question, this is just me trying different calculations by using random information to create a table and trying to figure out what it means…
And
You are totally wrong about me looking to be spoon fed, this was a table that I greated on Statcrunch as practice by using figures that I made up but could not figure out. I am all into learning and what would I learn if someone did any work for me. Who in their right mind would post their homework in an open forum, get real.
Then when it was suggested that you post your thoughts on an assignment you responded:
…Although I am still in the learning process I would never want to be spoon fed because then I would know nothing. Remember this is an open forum and no one in school is this crazy to ask their homework questions here.
Then, when asked if you were attending a statistics class, this was your response.
You are the only confused one here, if you had common sense you would know that I must be taking a statistics class to be interested in the subject but I guess common sense in not really common at all. Guess you have never explored on your own out of curiosity, pity you.
This makes your previous response that this wasn't a homework assignment somewhat suspicious, and it is safe to assume that at a minimum this was class related work.
…Maybe asking a question will give you an idea of where someone is coming coming from. Thanks anyway
You were asked several questions, and you were less than forthcoming in your responses.
…If you feel offended my apologies but for the future never jump to assumptions, Maybe asking a question will give you an idea of where someone is coming coming from. Thanks anyway
If this is an example of you respond to those trying to help you, good luck.
(Strikes colors and withdraws from the field of battle)
Guess we do not share the same perception of when someone is arguing, ok now i have the links I can try to figure it out but definatly not in 24 hrs. I would find it rather stupid of myself to jump to explain something that I do not fully understand. I think that I should at least be given the opportunity to read and understand before I respond.
Sadly....we have many that come here for answers and are not interested in learning. Here at AN it is all about learning and helping nursing students become the best nurses they can be. Because there are some who only want answers we ask students to post what they think the answer is...then we can step in and correct/agree with what you think or we are able to see where you are getting confused so we can help you learn.Actually, this is not a homework question, this is just me trying different calculations by using random information to create a table and trying to figure out what it means. Any questions about school work will eventually be moved to this forum. As an admin/moderator I spend a majority of my time here for the students.
Here are some links provided earlier in the thread that should help

If you feel offended my apologies but for the future never jump to assumptions
Do I feel offended because you told me to get real and told another poster that they lacked common sense? Not particularly. I've heard much worse. I just thought that I'd tell you that considering that you've asked us for help, then responding the way you chose to is likely counterproductive. While we're on the subject, if I actually had been offended, I doubt that receiving an apology delivered with a qualifier attached to it would have made me any happier.
Your admonition about jumping to conclusions would have been more appropriate if my assumptions had actually been way off-base. Whether your tables were actually handed to you by your professor or if you constructed them in an attempt to figure out information needed for your class, it still means you were asking for assistance with something school-related.
Maybe asking a question will give you an idea of where someone is coming coming from.
I don't think I've ever asked so many question in a single thread as I have in this one. I've asked a whole bunch of them trying to ascertain what your level of knowledge is (of mathematical statistics) and how far in the process of learning you've come. All the questions asked were designed to gain information in order to tailor the help to a suitable level. I haven't exactly been bombarded with answers to my questions You didn't offer any background information in your OP. That makes it harder to offer suitable guidance/ help.
* I assume this is your homework for a statistics class ?
* Have you had classes where a teacher has covered/explained the basics ?
* Do you have a textbook for your class ?
* OP, how about you tell us what your thoughts are so far on the assignment ?
* What do you think that the different T and P values signify ?
* Do they give you any information in relation to the null hypothesis ?
* For what purpose are you entering random numbers into Statcrunch ?
* Are you trying to understand the tool Statcrunch ? Statistics ?
* Which variables are you randomly entering and which one does the software calculate ?
* Have you looked at the links and tried to understand the numbers in your tables ?
I will once again wish you luck and hope that you'll solve this one successfully. Personally, I'm done in this thread but if you do come back with a proposed solution to your tables I hope and believe that someone else will give you feedback. There are many helpful posters on this forum.
I thank your for your response and yes, I am taking a statistics class. I am trying to get a better understanding of the topic and as any student would do, they explore and get confused so that was the reason for me posting the question. The question was posted in a general area but was removed to the student area by the administration.
You are a student (by your admission above) therefore the thread is in fact in the appropriate forum. Being insolent insulting to others is not an effective method to obtain assistance. I think your assessment that only a single person is confused by your duplicate post and subsequent biting responses as evidenced by the responses.
At least three members offered resources to help you understand the intricacies of statistics. It's unclear what you want. Yes its a public forum but one run by a private company that has guidelines for professionalism and appropriate posting/responses.
