Hunter College Psych NP (PMHNP) 2024

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I applied to Hunter College's (in NYC) PMHNP program on 12/2023. This is to start fall 2024. I am wondering if there are others who have applied. My application status so far says "submitted". I am waiting for either rejection or appointment to be set up for an interview. Just to give a little info on information used to apply.

My experience:

1.5 years of MED SURG experience

1.5 years of psych inpatient experience (in hospital)

About 5-6 years of total nursing experience

BSN 3.5 GPA CUNY School

ADN 3.2 GPA CUNY school

2 Letters of recommendation. One from my Nurse manager in my psych inpatient unit. The other from the attending (MD) on that same inpatient unit.  Not sure if this is a strong enough application but I wanted to share for transparency. I will be updating this forum if I get any news of rejection or acceptance.

I took a stats class while getting my ADN and a research class in my BSN (capstone).

For those who are accepted and planning to start this Fall - Has anyone reached out regarding orientation? So far the instructions for what we do next seem a bit vague but I assume we'll hear more soon. I know they are working on setting up CUNY accounts for us too.

I have not yet. I assume once we have out CUNY account everything will be easier and clearer. I have been submitting documentation they requested such as Academic Transcripts.

I did ask about Summer classes as I want to try to finish the degree in 3y, and we can, indeed, do Summer classes, so good news!

Who did you ask about Summer classes? I'll be doing full time school, hoping to finish earlier than 3 years - wondering if anyone has heard of this is possible

(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME), I think she os the responsable for the pmhnp or at least NP graduate programs. The office of Graduate Admissions told me to contact her, as although in the Catalogue does say Summer, they were not sure. She confirmed about the Summer classes, maybe she can tell you more about finishing it in less than 3y, or if we have a graduate new admissions orientation we might get some answers. Either way, I found her email on the Hunter website :).

any more acceptance emails/ letters received?

Does anybody know if there is a way to submit the commitment deposit online? Or is the only option to mail a check?

I think the only two options are mail or check. I went there in person (I called prior to go), as I work relatively close by.

A little late but I was also accepted into Hunters 2024 PMHNP program back on 3/7/2024. Just sent in my commitment deposit and called the college to ensure my immunizations from my previous college, 10 years ago, were still valid. Cannot wait to meet all of you, good luck to those still waiting for your acceptances.

I just signed up for a Summer class - anyone else?
Also have determined finishing in less than 3 years full time is impossible.

I did! For the Health Promo/Disease. Same one?

Older students recommended me to take Summer classes, they are more "intense scheduling wise" but shorter and they help with reducing the amount of time before finishing. So I will try to do 6crts instead of 3 next Summer if possible.

Hey everyone, I also got into Hunter's PMHNP program. I'm in between finishing the program in between part-time and full-time, which would probably mean taking Summer classes. I registered for "health promo disease" and "healthcare systems". Classes are both from May 28th to July 11th on Monday's and Wednesday's. I figured I take both and still be able to enjoy the Summer before fall semester starts. Excited to meet you all!

Hi guys, just found out I got in. Super excited.

Hi, just found out I got accepted into advance certificate PMHNP program. Anyone else in Adv. certificate program?
