Humboldt State Nursing

Did anybody apply to HSU for the spring 2010 nursing class? I just applied to the university today since they are only accepting pre-nursing majors for the school as transfers and 2nd bacs. Now, I'm going to apply to the nursing school. Wish me luck for the spring 2010!

No, but I was thinking about applying there for fall 010. Good Luck!!

HUH!!?!? Don't think! Do it! Well, I don't know, but that's just me. I think because the competition for nursing schools are turning more fierce by the years. Well, good luck with where ever you go and what ever you choose too!

Thanks dude. The only reason why I am not sure if I want to apply there is because it's really far from where I currently live and I don't know how stoked I'd be living surrounded by a forest lol. The good thing about Humboldt is they actually look at your overall GPA, which I think more schools should do and they put less of an emphasis on your teas score, so the majority of the points that they can assign is 1) Pre-req GPA; 2) Cumulative GPA; 3) TEAS; and the rest is like health care experience, volunteering, socioeconomic status, second language, etc. I wish more schools did this..

I am from San Diego, and went to Humboldt after high school. I don't know what it's like 17 years later, but when I was there it was absolutely beautiful. It's rather like walking into a time warp back to the '60's, but I thought it was terrific. :)

Hi! :) I also just heard they're accepting apps for spring 2010 so I applied to the university yesterday AND nursing program yesterday. Now I'm just waiting to get my official transcripts from my school (which i'll have on Monday) and get those sent out. I also have to get a letterhead from my manager stating that I have hospital experience with direct patient contact or whatever. How are you getting your TEAS scores there? Does it need to be official TEAS scores or can I just print something out from the ATI website which has my scores on it?

the nursing application said that we can give them a print-out, if i remember correctly.

somehow, after applying to HSU, I have a bad feeling that i never should have applied to HSU but who knows. i guess it's because i know my chances at CSUB is much stronger than HSU.

Well atleast you're expanding your options by applying to HSU too!

I personally think it's brilliant of HSU to accept nursing students for spring. I mean, everyone (or a lot of people atleast) who was going to apply to a CSU for spring 2010 and can't now will be sending in their application fees to HSU now. I can only imagine how many thousands of people will be applying for spring 2010 and how much money they're going to make off of it. It's genius. I'm sure the competition is going to go WAY up, but I'm going to try for it anyway. I mean there's only a select few colleges we can apply to for spring now so we might as well apply EVERYWHERE we can. Goodluck for CSUB :)

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Samuel Merritt, but have to plan for applying this spring anyway.Ugh.

I just graduated from there. I was the last class to graduate in the 6 sem program. Make sure you apply to the program directly, if you apply to the college only the nursing program will never know because all applications to the college are being throw out. They told me tuition is going to be doubled as well:cry: but at least some one is still taking applications, even if they are they only one in the whole state...its gunna suck having to look through all those applications!

that's also one thing why I'm starting to doubt about HSU! What should I do???? I mean I don't want to pay double the tuition and I already applied but I haven't sent any paper works yet, just through online. What should I do???? I only applied to CSUB and this coming fall I will be applying to more schools. Should I just stick to CSUB and the schools that I feel I'll be getting into or should I extend to the north and south as well(I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area)? the schools I really am looking forward to are SFSU, CSU Fresno, and Bakersfield(but I have a really good feeling about CSUB:wink2:). I only applied to HSU just in case and I'm thinking about other schools too, even out-of-state schools, but I don't know what I should do, especially when I don't want to waste so much money too.

HELP!

I'm also from the SF Bay Area (East Bay...near Walnut Creek). I feel like if I don't get in for spring 2010, I'll be applying EVERYWHERE--even out of state schools. I also don't see the financial problem getting any better that quickly, so I feel like you'll have to pay double anywhere. I mean of course I'm not positive, but that's just how I feel about it. And at this point, if you can get in SOMEWHERE, you almost just have to take it. So I personally will be applying to USF and SMU and Humboldt for spring and then if I don't get in to any of those programs, I'll be applying to every CSU! I'll go application crazy, basically. :)

Yeah, I got to agree with you on this one. I am doing the same thing. *high five*:wink2:
