HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

this might be a very specific question, but if I apply for the HRSA scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year, would this cover the cost of Summer 2022-fall 2022?

Yes. Your school just sends a Summer AND fall invoice. HRSA only gives you tuition for months prior to July btw, not the stipend for those months.

Oh! I have advice for you if you are going to reapply! I’m an RN and applied (and got it this year) in school for nurse midwifery/women’s health NP - my program was mostly PT, and I realized that this would be a problem - they only accept you if you are FT! I worked with my school and they agreed to change my course of study to FT to meet the requirements of the program. The catch is that I’m unable to work and honestly a little bit scared of the course load so the pressure is HIGH but the financial relief is so worth it for me and my situation. So hopefully this helps and you can speak with an advisor next year if you are able to change to FT and stop working.

For reference next year; some finalists were not accepted as participants because funding ran out.

Did that happen with you?

I'm happy to report that I'm all set and got the official acceptance email yesterday. I'm so sorry to those who didn't get it - that is incredibly disappointing, as we all know how much work was involved in the application.

Hope all have a good weekend!

Nope but it happened in the FB group for the finalists.

I applied to nhsc and never heard anything back,  my account still says under review.  Has anyone ever had that happen before.  Rejection letters should have been recd by end of last month.
