HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

Hello,

I wish everyone the best of luck in your nursing scholarship process / nursing career.
I’m writing today because I’m still in final review and it hasn’t changed since August 25.  Is it possible to still receive the scholarship when the deadline is approaching and we are so close?

Hi all,

I just wanted to take a quick survey of people who are "In Final Review" but have not gotten a countersignature on their contract. Is anyone else in this boat? What date were you notified you were a finalist?

For me, it was 8/6, and I have heard nothing since then.

I’m in this boat since Aug 25. How do you know if you received a counter signature?

The signature is on your contract at the bottom of it. To view the contract, you click it below your status. The signature will be below your signature.

Thank you so much, I just checked it! She signed the contract on sept 14, so does that mean I will for sure get the scholarship?

Signing a contract means that it is legally bound, so there is a 99% chance you will get it!

Does anyone know if we will get it before Sept 30 for those of us that already have it countersigned or it could take time after sept 30 to be notified?

We will be notified no later than Sept. 30th. We can possibly be notified earlier

Does covering school supplies include the cost of scrubs or will that be something you have to take out of the stipend?

You will know if you got the scholarship for sure before September 30th. The money won't be dispersed until mid to late October though.

If your school charges you for your scrubs in addition to your tuition then yes. If they don't charge you directly, that's something that comes out of your stipend or your own money. I would assume you already paid for scrubs though.

Congrats to everyone who's a finalist! I have a question. I am also a finalist, I received the email more than a month ago now. My ABSN program started on Sep 7th and our tuition is due end of September (the 23rd specifically), so I took a huge private student loan from Discover that is dispersing on the 23rd but if the money from the scholarship does not disperse by mid-October, does anyone know if I can still return the money and pay the interest fee that as accumulated? Also with the scholarship, do they kick away any federal loans we qualified for? (I only qualified for 4k but that is still 4k less to pay for later on)

Thank you for your help!

You will get a one time payment with your initial lump sum that is separate from tuition and the stipend. That’s meant to cover things like scrubs, books, and anything other school related out of pocket expense that you may incur including health insurance if you get it thru the school.
