HRSA 2021-2022

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

Once it’s awarded to you you don’t have to reapply. So no, it doesn’t go to people who had it last year. They only pick about 180-200 people per year to get the scholarship. There is more funding this year and the deadline was extended because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, first round has gone out. Second round will go out this week and next and last round around end of August/early September. September may have a few go out but it’s usually people who turned down the scholarship so they reassign and award the funds to someone else.

If I'm correct, only a couple people here have posted about a credit check. They also mentioned that they saw the credit check but haven't received an email yet. 

Check you junk box and look out in your email these next two weeks. A credit check is a good sign.

 The extension was two extra weeks so this week should be some type of notification? 

Only 1 person so far on this thread, but they also applied to the NHSC scholarship through HRSA so it could have been that.

Nope, no one has posted about any finalist emails. I also thought it was weird, that hasn’t happened on any of threads for previous years. Dozens in my program have also applied and no news.

I do believe a large number of applicants will get the scholarship this year. More funding since it is a need for more nurses due to retirement and the pandemic. Biden also sweeten the pot (more money allocated).  The government works like clock work so this week and next week for sure we should hear something. July 16 2020 was the day on last years thread applicants said they got notified and since the 2 week extension this year the math says this week or  next week for sure.

Just spoke with them. They said you have 2 days after getting the “finalist” email to accept the award. So check your inbox and spam daily.

I spoke with them today. They said between now and September 30th.

yea! If I'm remembering correctly from last year's forum, the status changes to "final review" after your credit check and email.
