HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

I didn't mean to upset anyone - I've read through the last three years of these forums and have seen that people just report anything they hear as soon as they hear it, so I just wanted to share my good news - but I feel as though people are upset since no one else has seen their credit checked - I applied last year and celebrated everyone who received the scholarship. I apologize if I made others panic - it's very early, and I know from reading through the forums that everyone's experience is different.

Did you apply for the Nurse Corps Scholarship or the NHSC scholarship? Both are through HRSA

I honestly feel like there’s no information they can give.  Just call and basically said they have started sending out first round of emails so make sure to check and even look at the spam folder but that was about all I got

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone applied that has an EFC above 6,345? Mine is a little above that due to what is a possible error.  I  called FAFSA to get it looked into but I'm worried it may not happen fast enough.

Hey! They don't give any information. Keep the faith!

For the people that got their credit checked or acceptance letter, what was your EFC and what date did you submit your application?

So a little background on my situation: I applied for this scholarship last year and heard I was a finalist on July 17th, 2020. I was pretty much in the blind as far as a date of expectation and I didn't know a forum existed. I wasn't eligible for any loans so the scholarship was my only hope. Unfortunately my ABSN program started August and I had no guarantee of receiving a scholarship so I started a full time job instead and pushed enrollment for this year. In September I heard I got the scholarship but by then it was too late to start the program and I had to terminate the contract :(.

Now reading this forum I see information regarding a credit check and I just checked to see if any inquiries have been made and I saw one was made by credco July 17th 2020 (same day I got my finalist notification). I don't see any other inquiry made this year so I'm getting a little worried.

My application was the same as last year, and my GPA even went up. My EFC remained the same and I got the same recommendation letters. I even spoke to a case manager who encouraged me to reapply this year. I'm really hoping something doesn't go sideways because I really can't imagine why they'd accept me last year but not this year. Fingers are crossed for everyone on this forum, it's strangely comforting to know we're in the same boat. Wish there was more transparency but will remain patient!

Thanks for your post and info! Question since I see this is the second time applying for you (same here)! :
I was reading the entire handbook, but I didn’t see anything clear about how funding is handled when you apply while you already started your program. And I know that we applied for the fiscal year of 2021-2022, but do you know if we would only be receiving funding for the time that we applied and any semesters after or does it cover the entire program, including past semesters?

I found something a couple years ago from a question session, and the latter seems to be the verdict but just wanted to know what you think!

I just thought about this question! So for those of you that already received a credit check, when did you submit your application?

So page 17-18 of the handbook explains what you're asking. They don't cover anything for years/semesters prior, but include the entire program as far as I understand. So if you're in year 2, you'd be applying for year 2-4, but not year 1, for example.

Both of my applications I submitted a few days before the due date

OK, so maybe that why you had your credit checked pretty early. I read elsewhere that the NHSC ones are done before nurse corps. I really hope that you get one of them!

I applied to both and nothing has showed up on my credit report. I also applied to both last year, never got a credit check and did not get an award.

Keep the faith yall! Our application deadline was extended by three weeks, so it might take longer than usual. I'm starting to get antsy but I'm still hoping for the best for all of us ?
