The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.
The only reason why I think it's one more week is because under the HRSA program info it states that "Applicants selected for an award will receivenotice no later than August 31, 2012." I have heard of them giving official notice in early September too though. This process really is like being on a rollercoaster ride!
I wonder if that means the initial notification or the official notification after the second level of forms.
Can someone tell me where they are getting the number to call other than the help center number? My school wont let me start without the official award notice. i called the help desk today and was told to continue to log in, and at somepoint it will go from "accepted award" to a welcome packet with invoicing info and other things. She said that by 8/31 everyone will be notified, but could not tell me if that just meant the original congrats email we all go on 8/3....this has been very frustrating, but obviously will be well worth it in the end.
Racinator25-You can try 3014432908. Not sure if thats what you have, but this is how I get a hold of my case manager (which seems to always be changing). Also, FYI, my scholarship was always late...like middle of the semester late. Once you get official letter, just be really nice to your financial aide person in college and keep on top of making sure HRSA pays by staying in contact with your casemaanger. It is a huge headache sometimes, but I saw it as my job since it helped me not have to work with two small kids in college full time. Also, from what I remember, there are a small number of these scholarships given out and some colleges are new at dealing with them. I found that once I got through first semester maddness, the college realized funds would eventually be transferred and worked with me - as long as I kept on top of it. So glad they are computerized now!

Hint: they are a little unorganized. Save a copy of everything you send them, and when it comes time to find the job, make a list and email your caseworker asking if they qualify. Nothing worse than getting offerred a job that does not fit their parameters. And never tell them a job is Per Diem. Better to take the job and have employer just list hours worked. Good luck
