HRSA 2014-2015 Nurse Corps Scholarship

Published

Hello everyone, This is my second time applying for this scholarship and hope to get it this time around. I got accepted into Pace nursing program fall of last year but because of lack of funds I had to postpone it for this fall. My overall GPA Is 3.4 and I have EFC of 0. I submitted my application today and now the waiting game begins:nailbiting:. Wish everyone good luck!!!!

Specializes in PICU is main dept. (NICU and CICU exp.).

Hi friends! Can anyone help me out? I applied for the Loan Repayment program. I'm an RN/BSN. My status still says Under Review, and I have not received any emails as of yet. I'm sure this isn't a good sign, but does anybody have information they can share with me in regards to my situation?

I'm glad they say selection is ongoing but to think we might not know for sure for another whole month is tough... I have pretty much lost hope for myself at this point. Getting a no at this point would be a lot easier than hearing no at the end of September...

I am keeping the faith until the end!! There is still hope and there's still a chance :-)

I'm so glad I found this forum! I applied for the nurse corps scholarship and like many of you my application still says under review. I just started my senior year of a BSN program and on the first day of classes I was told that I've exhausted all my loans, so I'm basically stuck paying this years tuition out of pocket. I don't qualify for private loans because my annual salary is very minimal, just enough to cover necessary expenses; and i never get financial aid mainly because I have no children to claim. Needless to say I'm in the same boat of needing this scholarship to stay above water. I know its Sept now but I still have hope. I've worked too hard and have been away from my family too long to let anything get in my way of BSN 2015!

Good luck to everyone!

Also, ask your financial aid advisor about the Perkins loan if you haven't already done so. Its another federal loan that comes directly from your school and it can be forgiven for nurses

still "under review"

Hello everyone & congrats to those who have already been notified of their award. I am in Florida and wondering if anyone has heard anything and if they really do continue to award into September? I don't want to completely give up hope. Any info would be helpful and appreciated!

Thanks and good luck :)

GPA: 3.84

EFC: 0

I have been following the thread since its inception and from what I can conclude so far the awarded participants are not from Florida.

I thought that you only heard "yes" until August 30th. I was under the impression that September 30 is the date they just tell you officially no. I could be wrong.

From what I understand, they have until August 31 to let you know if you are a finalist. Then they have until Sep. 30 to notify finalists if they are participants. I may be wrong, but I think if you're still "under review" beyond Aug 31, you may not be in the running anymore. This is the only part I'm unsure of. I think they have until Sep. 30 to let people know if they did not get an award at all (you would be "under review" until then), but perhaps there's stll hope for those "under review" if there is money left over after the first round of awards. Does anybody agree/disagree with this info? I feel like I get a different answer from the call center each time I call. Congrats to those who have been officially awarded and best of luck to finalists who are still waiting to find out!

I just contacted the call center because I am in final review and I need to decide to accept or deny my loans for this semester. They said that once you submit your paperwork it takes 1-6 weeks to receive the secretary-signed contract, or participant status. The call center told me that any loans I accept for this semester will be reimbursed automatically through the school. Also, the stipends will not arrive until November she said (I had heard October last time), and that the later I receive the participant notification, the later the stipend will come. Quite the backlog, but I'm still grateful. :) My husband remains in under review, but that's fine. Hopefully some of you waiting still get awards!

I'm officially in the program! Got the email yesterday to log in as a participant. Gratitude does not begin to cover the emotions. It's a life changer for me. I wish you all the best of luck in the waiting process.
