HRSA 2014-2015 Nurse Corps Scholarship

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, This is my second time applying for this scholarship and hope to get it this time around. I got accepted into Pace nursing program fall of last year but because of lack of funds I had to postpone it for this fall. My overall GPA Is 3.4 and I have EFC of 0. I submitted my application today and now the waiting game begins:nailbiting:. Wish everyone good luck!!!!

I Dont know what happen with my email but

I looked directly from the website and I am a finalist. My credit was checked july 30, from NJ, BSN, 3.489 cumulative i have an associate of general science already.

I logged on to Credit Karma and it says my credit score was checked on July 30, but I have not received an awards email and my HRSA page still says "under review". Same for my husband. We are in Puerto Rico.

Nixonk: I'm in the same boat with you... I'm in MD, I'm hoping to hear some good news soon...

Has anyone from Missouri had their credit checked or been accepted yet?

I am located in Va. and got the email stating that I have been selected for a 2014 NURSE Corps Scholarship Program award. I have to upload my bank information and 2 additional forms, but the email specifically says that I am selected. Does anyone know why the portal still says "finalist for award?" I will be uploading the forms in the next few days and accepting the award as soon as possible. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

So happy for all who have received an award- but it's torture waiting! Hope to hear something soon

I am in the same boat as you. And because a small part of me always thinks that stuff like this is too good to be true--I am well aware that this is an extremely competitive scholarship program--I have spent a lot of time reading through various threads to gain reassurance. What I do know is that the same thing happens every year. Applicants selected for the award get an email that basically sounds like they were granted the scholarship and when they log in the status says "Award Finalist." Once our paperwork that is due a week after the initial congratulatory email is in, we should probably see a status change that may say "Award accepted" and/or "Under Final Review." We will hopefully receive the official scholarship notice by August 31st (perhaps sooner if we were indeed the first round of applicants to be selected for the award). Basically, it seems like there is a formality in wording that needs to be used because we don't officially have the scholarship until the Secretary of Health approves and cosigns each contract. At least this is my understanding of the process based on the research I have done.

As nursing students, I am sure we are way over-thinking this whole process though! If the email said we were selected for the award, we were probably selected. I haven't read of any cases in which a finalist hasn't received the award. This last step seems like we have to make sure that our final enrollment verification is what it was on the initial application. Someone can definitely correct me if I am wrong in that there are cases in which finalists did not receive the scholarship--but I am guessing even if there were there were probably extraneous circumstances that made them ineligible.

Nonetheless, I am so very grateful that I received the congratulations email on July 31st! And fingers crossed that everything works out. I will be getting in all of my necessary paperwork tomorrow, hopefully. For those of you who have yet to receive an award notice, it seems in past years they send out awards in waves. So do not give up hope especially if you submitted an application that shows your passion and commitment to serving the underserved. Best Wishes to everyone!

In reply to a previous post :No unfortunately not. I would really like that one instead. I only got the nurse corps one but I am undecided because I can't afford the taxes on it. What's your opinion? Also when did you hear from the NHSC.?

Hi everyone!! I also got the congratulations email today (literally cried and called my dad on the spot). The email was sent the 1st but I didn't read it until today, and I have the 8th to submit everything. I am planning on going to my school tomorrow to fill out the school verification form. I do really hope that finalist means we actually get the scholarship, otherwise I would feel really disappointed and stupid for crying over it. My dad is saying all the finalists most likely got it because of the way the email was written (and that they probably say it because you won't get it until you send in the documents on time).

Also, I think the "0" applicants was a typo?

Is it a 0 like for applicants with an EFC of 0? Maybe I'm way off base, I have no idea. At first someone said their last name started with an O, but did everyone who had the "out of 0 applicants" in their email have an EFC of 0?
