HR wants meeting or report me to BON

Updated:   Published

So about a month ago I came here looking for advice about being suspended for a co-sign waste discrepancy. I just got an email from HR saying they need to meet with me this is the email

i copied the email...

“As you were informed by your manager, ***** **** on Date deleted..., HR, Management and Pharmacy are conducting an investigation into your medication handling and administration practices. We need to meet with you in connection with the investigation. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Failure to contact me or otherwise cooperate with the investigation will result in the termination of your employment. If you’re employment is terminated, we will be obligated to report you to the State of Michigan Licensing Bureau.”

this happened a month ago, I’m contingent so I started looking for work right away. I secured a job. I feel like this is a trap and I was under the impression they are required to the state anyways.
I talked to a lawyer when this all went down and he said, hospitals usually don’t let lawyers attend internal meetings.

any advice would be great appreciated

if I don’t go they’re report me to the BON.
I totally get that they will still report me even if I do attend, but at least when the BON starts to investigate it will be on record that I did not ignore the allegations. Although I’m beyond nervous to go tomorrow, I’m not going to be pressure to admit or sign anything.
please send positive vibes! I need them!

I wouldn’t go to the BON and say anything at all! Especially without consulting an attorney first. An attorney wouldn’t want you talking to anyone.

I probably would have consulted an attorney before going to the meeting. The attorney can advise you whether to go, not go, and if you do go what to say and not to say. This is a CYA situation. Best of luck, and let us know how it went.

@beachynurse my meeting is in an hour. I did talk to a lawyer that represents nurses. He told me to go, admit nothing and do not sign anything unless I’m 100% sure I know what I’m signing. Unfortunately we are not union so I have no rep. Michigan is a mandatory reporting state of terminated r/t narcotics, so even though I’m pretty sure they’d report me if I go or not, at least when it is reported, it’s shown I went to the meeting and didn’t run away.

Will be thinking of you. Please keep us updated.

Hope everything goes well. Please let us know what happens.

I admitted to nothing and was terminated

Did you quit first?

@Wuzzie No

I was told they are reporting me to the board

I am very sorry to hear this. These are the stories that scare the crap out of me. I wish you nothing but the best.

Oh I wish you had brought that letter.

I’m glad you said nothing. I’m pretty sure they determined they were gonna terminate and report you before you ever walked in the room. I wish you well if the board even sniffs around you lawyer up immediately

The first thing the HR rep said was: “Please be completely honestly. It will only help you”.
