Hi everyone!

So I currently live in Los Angeles, CA and as many of you know the current job market here for a new grad LVN stinks so bad I need to move to another state.

At this point I am willing to relocate anywhere in the US!!! and have finally convinced the boyfriend that this needs to happen for a chance to get a job with minimal experience.

So I am super interested in finding out how your state/area is doing when it comes to hiring NEWGRAD LPNs/LVNs?

How long did it take you to find a job once you began applying?

How long ago was that? What have you heard from new grads in your area?

What's the pay like? (not a big deal since I know cost of living makes up for lower wages for the most part)

And if you have any experience with the reciprocity of the license to your state any tips about how long it took to get processed that helps as well.

Any info or tips will help!!!

Thank you

Hello [COLOR=#003366]ecclecticlylovelylvn and congrats! I live in the nw corner of MO. I work with a couple new grad LPNs in a LTC facility. They have applied to physician offices and the hospital, but were not hired. I did a little exploring myself, and found that the closer to the bigger cities, the more you can earn. Agency jobs can pay pretty good. LTC, home health, prison/jail, agency jobs for LPNs are all over. Just depends on what you want to do and where. Hope this helped. Good luck in your new career.

Thank you for the info!!

I added Missouri to my possible state research list ;)

I am trying to make this move count since I am pretty much ready for RN school.

I am studying each state as much as I can for LPN and RN job markets as well as school ratings for my son and bridge programs for lpn to rn(BSN hopefully)

Thanks again!

Hi OP. Congrats! I live in Ontario, Canada and the market is fairly good here.

I would LOVE to move to Ontario!!! hehehe wonder how much paperwork that would take :bookworm:

Now that I know that it is a good market over there that possibility is definitely open.

Thanks!!!!

Agreed. I also live in Ontario and got a job right out of school on a busy surgical floor. It doesn't seem that any of my classmates have had trouble finding jobs either.

I've worked with some LPNs that cried me rivers about how hard it is to find a job in the hospital and all they could find is LTC. They then proceed to tell me that they can only work during the day because they have kids. No job opportunities? LOL

MO is a goldmine for new LPN grads... should they be willing enough to work.

:roflmao:LOL That's so comical when I compare it to people here in LA trying to get jobs.

Here everyone is trying to land at least a PRN job or a per diem , I wish I got to be picky like that! When I go to interviews and I am asked about my hours I literally make sure to say I am willing to work any time any day and any holiday with a smile on my face and sad puppy eyes.

Hehehe well luckily Missouri's cost for licensing is quite affordable @ only $51.00 I will definitely try my luck and get that ball rolling in a very near future along with hopefully a few other states.

Le sigh I looked at the Immigration process and it seems quite complicated since I do not have a concrete job offer or acceptance into a bridge program.

I definitely need to do A LOT of research to find out what the best way of getting a Visa would be- as a nurse trying to find a job or as a student trying to go for RN program.

And then there's my son and boyfriend (hahaha if need be future husband!)

Definitely the possibilities available to new grads in Ontario have peeked my interest !!!!

I live in TX & when I got my license in 2010, it wasn't hard to get a job in LTC or PDN (although now I advise against new nurses going into PDN/HH). Even some hospitals in the area hire LVNs in hospitals, but of course prefer to hire nurses with hospital experience. Good luck where ever you move!

Thank you for the info!

It seems that Texas has a very fickle job market.

Some weeks I hear it's great and other weeks I see people begging Californians not to come since there are no jobs

Kind of the same thing I am seeing about Connecticut and Nevada

Different areas of TX have jobs, some don't. Like Austin or DFW, packed with LVNs but where I live, even though there are a bunch of LVN programs there are still jobs.
