Nursing student looking to learn more about what it takes to be a Public Health Nurse
Hi Everyone!! I am a BSN student (1 year left woo!) and for my Public Health and Community nursing class I was asked to interview a nurse who is currently practicing within the field of Public Health. Being that we are all extremely busy and finding someone locally who is willing to take the time to meet and discuss their role has proven to be challenging. I have decided that a really good option would be to post the questions here and see what any of you lovely ladies and gents have to offer. 1)What is your current position? 2)What are some of your responsibilities? 3) What type of population do you service? 4)What type of training and certifications are required within your field of practice? 5)Please provide some reasons as to why your role is needed within the population you service, and describe some of the preventative measures you have taken while fulfilling your role, and if these are considered primary, secondary, or tertiary measures. Any answers or guidance are extremely appreciated and I am extremely grateful for any responses :)

Azusa LVN to BSN program
Hi everyone I am currently in the process of submitting my paperwork to APU for the May 2015 cohort. I have already submitted my official transcripts and just need to complete the one page essay, submit my license, the two recommendation letters, a spanish test and a phys Ed ,philosophy, and college math class this upcoming spring.(omg still have a lot to do ahhhh!!! Lol) Just wondering once all of these requirements are completed...What would be the next step. Anyone have any idea about deadlines or any specifics at all? I am seriously trying to get everything into them asap to just have the peace of mind that it is done. I truly hope I get in. APU is my first choice but I am also considering/applying to the la county allied health program and possibly other cc anyone out there have any input on the difficulty of getting accepted into the program or any other advice for someone who is in the process of applying to APU for theiR BSN as an lvn

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Hi everyone thank you so much for your responses! Such helpful information!! @BigG-LVN: Your facility sounds like a dream come true! If at any point you didn't mind sharing your facilities info with me, that would be so greatly appreciated. And you are right the opportunities are out there if you look, but the issue I have been having is that I get to the interview everything goes splendidly, "we will definitely call you on such and such"...call never comes....call back and I am told that someone with the golden one year exp. came and got the job and that they are sorry blah blah blah. Thank you ahead of time for any future info!

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Hi CaliBoy760 At this point I would welcome a pediatric vent if it meant getting a job!! Sadly all of the posting, listings, and emails I have looked at require at least one to two years of pediatric experience or vent experience. I sadly do not posses either. Now I do understand a lot of jobs I can try to use other experiences and volunteering. But to me it came across as far fetched in those ped vent scenarios. If you don't mind giving me a few of those registries' info to try my luck I would be most appreciative.

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Do you mind giving me some ideas about some possible areas in Texas might be. Since indeed and craigslist are hard to decipher sometimes when it comes to reading the current market.

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Thank you for the info! It seems that Texas has a very fickle job market. Some weeks I hear it's great and other weeks I see people begging Californians not to come since there are no jobs Kind of the same thing I am seeing about Connecticut and Nevada

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Le sigh I looked at the Immigration process and it seems quite complicated since I do not have a concrete job offer or acceptance into a bridge program. I definitely need to do A LOT of research to find out what the best way of getting a Visa would be- as a nurse trying to find a job or as a student trying to go for RN program. And then there's my son and boyfriend (hahaha if need be future husband!) Definitely the possibilities available to new grads in Ontario have peeked my interest !!!!

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
:roflmao:LOL That's so comical when I compare it to people here in LA trying to get jobs. Here everyone is trying to land at least a PRN job or a per diem , I wish I got to be picky like that! When I go to interviews and I am asked about my hours I literally make sure to say I am willing to work any time any day and any holiday with a smile on my face and sad puppy eyes. Hehehe well luckily Missouri's cost for licensing is quite affordable @ only $51.00 I will definitely try my luck and get that ball rolling in a very near future along with hopefully a few other states.

I am studying each state as much as I can for LPN and RN job markets as well as school ratings for my son and bridge programs for lpn to rn(BSN hopefully) Thanks again!

Hows the LPN Job Market in your area?
Hi everyone! So I currently live in Los Angeles, CA and as many of you know the current job market here for a new grad LVN stinks so bad I need to move to another state. At this point I am willing to relocate anywhere in the US!!! and have finally convinced the boyfriend that this needs to happen for a chance to get a job with minimal experience. So I am super interested in finding out how your state/area is doing when it comes to hiring NEWGRAD LPNs/LVNs? How long did it take you to find a job once you began applying? How long ago was that? What have you heard from new grads in your area? What's the pay like? (not a big deal since I know cost of living makes up for lower wages for the most part) And if you have any experience with the reciprocity of the license to your state any tips about how long it took to get processed that helps as well. Any info or tips will help!!! Thank you --Desperate for a chance--
