Hey guys, Thank you for your posts. I have decided to no longer go for APU. They told me I still needed a philosophy class and some other general eds to apply. I thought this was somewhat ridiculous since other nursing schools did not require these classes. I mean if APU is your number one choice then go for it! As for me, I have decided to go through the community college route. I will be saving money and will be going to a more reputable school. I was also told by APU that the Spring semester was full even though the application period was not over for Spring. After researching more and talking to people, I have decided that there are better options out there that are a lot cheaper and maybe even better.

Thank you for the reply nursemelz! I've started calling and sent in my transcripts, do you know how competitive it is to get in? You don't have to post your exact grades but I'm wondering if you have to be absolutely perfect or not haha. Some of these programs want like 3.5 + gpa and such. Also, did you have an interview? Did you have LVN experience? Sorry for all of the questions, but hopefully I can get in for next semester too:) Thanks in advance!

Thank you again for the info! I am still going to apply to LA county and see how it all goes. Have you seen a thread for nurses that have graduated from LA county? I'm searching for one but can't seem to find it. I want to know what they are doing after the program is done, if you don't know of one it's okay, I'll keep looking:) Thank you again!

Thank you for the reply! I guess I am just second guessing myself, I've heard so many good things about LA county! I really want to go there but from research it seems like having your ADN is a roadblock. I guess I'm wondering if new grads from County get hired right away? I mean if I can work while getting my BSN then I don't have a problem going to la county...but it seems like it's tough to get a job with just an adn. So I'm wondering if LA county changes that because it is such a reputable program?

I also graduated from an ROP LVN program and I can tell you right now that I wish I went straight for my BSN. Although having your LVN is nice because you get to work while you are waiting, there are so many restrictions for LVN bridge programs. If anything I feel that it is harder to get into a nursing program with your LVN. If your already have a non-nursing bachelors, I would go for the accelerated BSN programs. In just 1 year you can have your Bachelors in Nursing, the only minus of course is the demanding coursework and time....I would only do this if you have the time and support. Even though I have my LVN, this is the pathway I am going to have to take anyways. I will have a non-nursing bachelors next year and try to get into an Accelerated BSN. If you do your lvn, you then have to go from lvn-adn.....after that you need to go from adn to bsn...this process can take 3-5 years. I would just use the time to get really good (A's) grades in your prereqs and go for an Accelerated BSN. This will probably take you 2-3 years. Some schools that offer BSN's with a non-nursing BA= Concordia CSULA UCLA- has a 2 year Masters with a non-nursing BA CSUN there is a lot more schools out there, Hope this info helps!

Bella, I think their program is around $50,000 for 2 years...but that is specifically for the LVN-BSN so I don't know about the regular BSN track

Wow congrats! I didn't know they let you know so soon, isn't the application deadline Dec 1st? I haven't even turned in my application yet, I am still on the fence about it bc of the $$$ How was the application process? Do you know if it is very competitive? I've got average grades so I don't even know if its worth applying. I love that it is a 2 year program though!!

So I am in a total dilemma here. I've got my LVN license (no experience yet) and I just don't know what pathway to take. I know that I can get into LA county's LVN to ADN program for sure, and I know it is a great program. The problem is, after I graduate with my ADN, all the ADN to BSN programs are at least 2 years long! So I'm wondering if I should just start over and go straight to BSN or entry level MSN? I will have a non-nursing bachelors in Fall 2015, I know there are a lot of accelerated BSN programs...so that is also an option. I guess I'm just wondering if I should go for LA county since I have more than enough points or if I should gamble and try for a bachelors later. Anyone from LA county nursing program have any input? Did you get a job right away? Did you go for a BSN?

Hello guys, I am new to this site. I've searched the site for information about Azusa's LVN to BSN program. I haven't really found anything so I decided to start a thread. I have already contacted the school for information so I know about the requirements. I just wanted to see if there is anyone out there that is applying for spring 2015? Or someone that is or has gone through the program? I wanted to know how competitive it was and if the $$ was worth it. This is one of the few LVN to BSN programs that I can find in SoCal. I'm also thinking about going for the LVN to RN route, which is a lot cheaper but takes a lot longer. Since Azusa is a private school, is it easier to get into? I can't find any info about the LVN to BSN program itself, I want to know what it's like. If I'm going to spend the money, I want to know if it is worth it. Thanks!
