I am about to apply for community college in a few weeks and i put nursing as my top choice. Okay, so I want to start off with an ADN, and later get my bachelors degree.. But how does that work? Do I just apply for a different program or do I have to go back to school? Any opinions would help a lot, thanks!

After you get your ADN and pass NCLEX, you'll be an RN. To get your bachelor's in nursing, you'll need to search schools that offer RN-BSN programs. There are TONS of them!

You might consider applying to the ADN program with an affiliation or "integration" program with a BSN program. Or, really, you might just sit down and realize that an ADN program is not 2 years, like other associate's degree programs, because there are about 3 full semesters worth of prerequisites before you enter the nursing major, so your ADN will take you 3 1/2 years. Go directly to a BSN program (4 years) and get it done right once and for all.
There are dozens, if not hundreds of threads on AN that discuss this. Use the search feature (little magnifying glass in the yellow bar up top) and go read some.
My school's ASN program is 5 semesters: spring/summer/fall/spring/fall or fall/spring/summer/fall/spring. You can take all the required courses (A&P, Micro, SOC/PSY/ENG, etc) as co-reqs. As long as you have high school BIO and CHEM, everything else can be taken at the same time as NUR classes.

My school is the same way. The only Pre reqs are HS algebra, Chem, and bio and College math 101. So if I get in next fall it will take me 3 years total because there is no way I'm trying to take A&P and Micro during nursing school. My main reason : by going to a community college my nursing degree will be free, no loans required.

That's what it is for the RN program I was in. Unless you have to repeat a semester you'll be done in 2 years if you choose to take everything together.

Why don't you aim for the bachelors ?? That's what I'm doing right now .. I'm doing my pre reqs to apply to all csu nursing programs in Cali and if I don't get accepted I'll be applying to my community college adn program .. and then bridge to BSN
Well, I don't really have family members in college but my sister, and she's berry on her third semester so she's still taking her basic classes and doesn't really know how it works..
