My classmates were discussing NCLEX and most of us are thinking about taking it ASAP after school. I was wondering what some of other LVN/LPNs thoughts were on this matter? As working nurses, how do you feel?

The issue is when there is an opening. I sent in my money ahead of graduation and i got my ATT 5 days after I had to wait a month. and i took the very 1st opening available.

I will test as soon as I can, ideally 3 weeks after graduation. Its my understanding that after a month or two the pass rate declines dramatically. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I took it 4 1/2 months after I graduated and passed. I would suggest taking it as soon as possible though. It seems to be the smartest to take it while the information is still fresh in your mind. Good Luck!

We had to wait for the school to send our our paperwork to the BON and before they would submit it they wanted 3 independant test with abouve 80%. I graduated end of October 2005 I did my test right away got my ATT mid December and took Nclex March 06 and passed. Some classmater waited till after the Holidays to do thier test and took Nclex in June and July.

Hi Kriso:
I will take it asap, like everyone here has stated--sooner is better. You're usually given about 3mths from the date you receive your ATT, so I will test between the time frame.
Good luck on whatever you decide.

Be careful on how long you wait to take the NCLEX. There are differences and each state law set limits before fingerprinting or the application expires. The question should be, what does the state say is the limit? Then it is important to know that the sooner you test after graduation, the more chance you have of passing.

I took the nclex pn almost two months to the day after graduation. I had heard to take it within two months after graduation....I graduated on Dec 14...then I started studying right after new years.. studying with the Saunders cd ..and then tested on Feb 15...and I passed with 85 questions in almost 2 hrs.....
Wow! Good for you! 75 questions is the minimum you can take and pass. You did very well!

I took it three weeks after graduation and passed with the minimum amount of questions. I was in a big rush because I really needed to get a job.
