How soon after the NCLEX can you try the P-Vue trick?

Published

Will it work the moment I get back to my car? Any word from people who have taken it before?

Thanks!

It's less accurate before 24 hours post exam completion

If you want accurate results, best thing to do is wait 24hours before trying out the PVT.

You could also do it right after the exam to get a feel for it, but you have to understand that the exam is scored TWICE, once after the exam and the 2nd scoring within 24hrs and the 2nd scoring is the one that counts, or so i heard.

On a side note, i also heard that you can just put a different expiration date on your credit card whenever you try the PVT so there's no risk in losing $$, because if you pass you will get the good pop up and when it tries to charge you but declines your card because of the wrong expiration date then yeah.. you get the point.

U can do pvt after 1 hour u take ur exam. Their is no rule in pvt even the scoring . Its just a trick give it a try if u want. It works for me couple months ago.

Didn't we have this exact same conversation about two days ago?? NO, it will not "work" from the moment you get into your car; at that moment you will only have had your exam scored ONCE: if your first score and second score match, then you will think 'it worked' right then.....but it's only half the picture.

There are people who find that their second score is different from their first....but then again, I'm experiencing some serious deja vu here with you....

I'm sorry, you are quite mistaken. One hour after your exam all you know is what the first score was, NOT the final one. And for enough people that it's worth discussing, they are NOT the same. The reason you think "it worked for me" is because your second score was the same as your first; you didn't do it correctly but didn't know any better, so...sometimes ignorance is bliss ;)

The "it's just a trick, try it if you want" has cost people $200, which is WHY we keep telling people to wait 24 hours before doing it. If you do it and your first score is a fail, you'll be out $$ whether or not you ultimately fail....a passing score won't yield a refund.

In the other thread about PVT I feel like I read many people talk about the "bad" pop-up before the 24 hour mark and then ended up passing. Has anyone gotten the "good" pop-up before the 24 hour mark (after only the first scoring) and then end up failing (after the second scoring is done)?

I've read one poster admit this. Found out via quick results as celebrating and confirmed by BoN. Suspect most won't admit to this if posted success first due to embarrassment.

I just took boards today and did the PVT and got the "good" pop up but I am not relying on it because so many people state that 24 hours is more reliable due to the scoring being done twice.

The only people I told about the "good" pop-up was my mom and my husband. I really don't want to get my hopes up.

Thank you for your response :)

Yes. One in particular sticks out in my mind, because it was so sad; lots of embarrassing telephone calls rescinding the "good news", like that. I recall someone saying that she and a friend tested together, so both did the PVT together; the PVT said they had both passed (if you want to call a pop up that says you can't register again a 'pass'). Unfortunately, while one of them DID pass (I can't remember if it was the person posting or her friend), one of them did FAIL.....and he/she found this out only AFTER accepting a much-wanted job offer :( Had not only the humiliation of having told everyone and anyone about being an RN, but had to call back the employer and refuse the offer :(

That said, I haven't heard of anyone (me personally, to date) who has gotten the good pop up AFTER 24 hours and had it 'turn bad'. If you wait out at least 24 hours.....as far as I can tell from reading hundreds of these posts....you can quietly celebrate until you get your license number :)

Ok well then I definitely won't get my hopes up!

Thank you!

I did the PVT a few hours after completing the exam just to see what it would be. I received the good pop up last Monday. I saw no point of waiting 24hrs because Florida BoN had me down for passing on their website less than 24 hours after the exam. It won't hurt you to try (I recommend a prepaid card to avoid losing $200). It "might" not be accurate but I have done it twice before the 24 hour mark and it was correct for me.
