How do you reward yourself after a tough shift?

Just for fun. :D Do you ever reward yourself after a tough shift, patient, patient load, weekend, night, etc?

I like to get Starbucks on the way home. It's about once every two weeks but when I start to feel frazzled after a round of admissions on night shift it gives me something to look forward to.

I work PRN as a CNA in a hospital float pool. have worked there since the year before i started NS (going on 3 years now). Nothing feels netter to me than a Dr. Pepper, Criminal Minds, Mindy Project, reading a good book, or two ;), and then hitting the sack!

I lay in bed and do absolutely nothing. I get to a point where I actually debate if I should get up and go pee or just wait because that would include getting out of bed....and that just sounds like something I can do later.[/quote']

Rotfl! I thought I was the only one! Too bad you can't delegate urination to someone else. Jk!!! Lol!

A hot bath and a good book. And, hopefully, 7-8 hours sleep.

Exactly what I'm doing now...noshing on a snack, watching TV (House Hunters International tonight!) and surfing the net til I get tired (that's after my usual evening shift)....after nights--shower & bed! I rarely do day shifts.

Champagne brunch with the boyfriend. My favorite :)

For sure, the fan;))

I do the Starbucks thing, too. Also, I go home and sleep however long it takes until I feel rested (if I'm off that next night). That is the best reward.

Worked nights for 18 years, loved to go eat breakfast with everyone after last shift of a rotation but was always afraid of falling asleep on the way home.

LOVED my FAN! What is it about a fan? Haha.

A seriously tall cocktail (whatever my fancy is at the moment) and a good movie. And then another seriously tall cocktail....and then it doesn't matter WHAT the movie is :)

bacon for breakfast--like a whole pig's worth

read allnurses and either have a good laugh or good cry or both

and pedicures, really pampery pedicure---i am still looking for a place with tiny fish to exfoliate.....

Had 3 hours of critical overtime with a really sick post-op and knew it would mean a nice boost to my paycheck. I got my first pedicure in at least 2 years at a wonderful spa I had never been to before! For regular days (crazy but no O/T) I have a soak in my ancient hot tub, with or without my husband. I try not to violate HIPAA, and he tries not to puke...

I lay in bed and do absolutely nothing. I get to a point where I actually debate if I should get up and go pee or just wait, because that would include getting out of bed....and that just sounds like something I can do later.

You know there's always the option to self catheterize;)

I crave junk foods after my shifts (usually after evening shifts), sometimes clothes shopping, or just look forward to passing out! (Usually no energy to even shower)
