How do you prepare for class?

Do you take your own notes on the readings ahead of time for class? Then take notes again on the lecture eventhough it's the same material?

Featured Replies

I read the material before lecture. Then I take notes... then I go back over the material in the book along with the notes and highlight everything important. :)

I usually go through the textbook ahead of class and make notes of the concepts that seem most important. This helps me prepare for lecture, and kind of know what to listen for.

Yes, I read ahead. In addition to the textbook chapter, I also leaf through the notes the professor printed out before lecture begins.

I do any suggested pre reading prior to the lecture, and skim's through lecture notes.

After the lecture - the same day if possible - I go over the lecture notes and type up study notes.

I add any info after tutorials.

hope that helped

read material before class. so you will not be completely lost. take good notes and review when you reach home.

I usually skim through the chapter with the powerpoint along hand and highlight the important topics. After class I read the chapter and go over notes from class.

I try to get a good night's sleep.

I agree, sleep is the most important preparation for me. If I have time, I'll read the chapter ahead of time. I always print out the power points ahead of time and flip through them before lecture. After lecture, I go through the book and concentrate on what we covered the most with the powerpoints.

I usually skim through the notes or chapters prior to lecture, go to lecture, then go through my notes that same day.

When I study, I find rewriting my notes helps...it sucks because I have a tired hand but it really helps me grasp the material! Also looking at diagrams, pictures, etc (I'm a visual learner, too)

My best advice is don't wait until the last minute to start studying!

I don't do anything to prepare for class because not much happens in our class. A lot of sitting around.

But, I do prepare for exams. I read the material, marking things I think are important. Then I go back and take notes. Even if I don't read the notes, writing them in the first place helps.
