I don't know about you guys but when I answer the nclex questions I also write down the info that is provided which I don't understand that well and it takes me about 4hrs or more to do about 70 questions per day. What are you guys doing to be able to do 100/day? Am I the only one who is not really able to do that 100 ques/day thing?
My exam is in about 5 weeks and I have been studying by category. I devote one week for each category. I am currently reviweing maternity and will begin peds on monday. After I finish all the categories I plan to spent 2 weeks straight on client needs, so I can see which area I need to focus on the most. Hopefully by that time I will feel ready. BTW I also read Kaplan each night on how to answer questions and take there practice exam every 3 weeks to see if I can improve my score. The secret is not reviewing the Kaplan exam. I plan to review it the last week before my nclex exam date, so I can see where I stand.
What is everyone elses plan of studying?.

I would not use the system that you are doing. I would focus much more on med/surg type questions..............NCLEX is now limiting the number of questions on peds, etc.
I would worry more about reading the rationale behind each answer, and not physically taking notes. You should already know the material, but be reviewing the way that the questions are presented.
I also think that Saunders does a much better job of explaining things......
:) just my opinion , but you should be doing a mix of questions each day, do not focus on each area like you are doing..........I definitely do not recommend that.
Thank you so much Suzzane4. I was too thinking that this was like a waste of time. I think I am going to do intergrated test questions for now on.
Suzzane4, I was reading Kaplan and it talked about clients category percentage that are tested on the Nclex. Do you think that it is a good way to base my studies? (is this the way you teach your students) Nclex 3000 has Exams on client Category's that I have been using since yesterday and it focuses on everything and so does Saunders Q&A they too base there questions that way. The comprehensive Saunders Cd does not allow you to mix questions, they only let you do it by category.
I have my students start at the beginning of the CD and go straight thru until the end. So that they have covered everything...............I find it easier this way.
Most of the sections are in 10 quesiton increments, so they just keep going.
Certain days, there may be more of a focus on one area, but definitely not one weeks worth. They just do each quesiton as it comes up.........Make sure that you fully understand why each answer is correct as well as why the incorrect answers were not selected. This is just as important.....

i agree that taking notes down is time consuming. however, maybe take notes on a little notesbook only for the information that you do not know. everything else should be a review for you. practice a lot of questions, knowing why you got the answer wrong is more effected.

I dont know if I will be any help but I just practiced, practiced questions. I did them on CD-Rom, on the internet and even used a book which had thousands of questions written in it. I improved my starting score from 63% to 80% over about 8 weeks. Once I had finished I started again to see if I could improve my previous score from the tests I did weeks before and you form your own stratergy, of how to ans the questions.
For example safety is always number 1
If airway is mentioned then that is priority!
Thank you for the advise everyone. As a matter of fact when I said that I take notes, I was refering to only things I didn't know and I do use a small notebook. All the advise is very helpful, I appreciate you all, thank you so much.

I have the Saunders NCLEX book 3rd edition. On my CD, I actually clicked on a lot of different categories at once, just to get a mix of questions, & it let me do it. I think after clicking those categories, I then had to click on exam or study, one of those. But, I was able to do questions from several different categories (endocrine, neurological, pharmacology, etc.).
