Hello everyone,
I am planning on taking my exam in a couple weeks, and I would love it if everyone can share what they did to study, or what you are doing? How long did you study for? My school provided us with the virtual ATI, and I got the Kaplan strategies book, Lacharity book, and exam cram practice questions. I am trying to come up with a study plan, PLEASE HELP!
Hello! I took the NCLEX-RN exam two days ago, and I just found out today that I pass with 109 questions! I started studying in June. I used Saunders and took Kaplan...and did about 5,000 questions from June 1 - July 20th. I also downloaded the Saunders app on my phone which helped me do questions with every little free time i had (i.e, brushing my teeth, the subway, watering the grass -LOL). I was rarely getting 60-65% on the Kaplan Q-bank, but I was getting about 70-75% on Saunders. Both were very helpful, and the only time I studied content was when I noticed a pattern of certain topics I repeatedly got wrong. I didn't focus as much on PEDS, and on the day of my exam....a majority of my questions were PEDS & Select all that apply questions! I was so frustrated, but I took a deep breath, prayed, and kept going. READ EACH QUESTION CAREFULLY & take your time! All that I did was questions, questions, questions! And prayer :) I never thought I would see this day of me becoming an RN. It was blood, sweat, and tears...but all that sacrifice is worth achieving your dreams! Anyways, i might have gone off topic, maybe bc I am rooting for each and everyone who is taking the exam. I am so proud to be a new RN :) Good luck everyone!
After graduation, I did ATI and Kaplan's review courses. I studied for 3 weeks. I would do between 100-200 questions a day. I reviewed my week areas by using the Kaplan course book and Saunders. I studied lab values and infection control almost daily. I used kaplan's content videos to study medications. I passed with 75 questions. Be sure to read all of the rationales. Good luck
I took the Kaplan course and thought it was really beneficial. I read over their course book and did the question trainers and Qbank (probably did between 100 and 150 questions per day). I also used the blue Saunders book to do content review and took notes on what I wasn't strong in. The fact-throwing thread on this website really helped me with simplifying facts and learning mnemonics (especially the Spiderman and Mrs. Wee mnemonics for infections). I passed with 75 questions. Best of luck! :)
The Kaplan course is well worth the money. If you follow their study plan and put in the work, you will be successful. Plus they have a money back guarantee. If you fail nclex, you have the option to repeat the course or a refund. They course is very expensive, but in my opinion worth it. The course was a graduation gift (I'm broke).

do thousands of practice questions....do kaplan's review coorifice (so worth the money..they teach you how to figure out the answer when you have no clue)...learn the isolation precaution mnemonic (search it on allnurses.com...my chicken hez tb---spidermann---mrs.wee.) know isolation stuff good...i had at least 10 questions. take the day off before the test to relax. breathe! be confident in your knowledge. i passed doing 4000 questions and all the stuff above! good luck!
