How many of us are 25 - 35 yrs. old?

I'm 28 and just graduated last May. I went through an ADN program, so non-traditional (older) students were the norm. It would have been a little different had I gone through a BSN program..........those students tend to be traditional (just out of H.S. and younger).

I have to say, though, that had I gone through the program at a younger age.....I may not have made it. Personally, I needed to mature more before I committed to anything as intense as a nurses' training and education.

I'm 25...and just starting out! Taking my first couple of prerequisites. I should finish the Program (ADN) in 3 years. I can't wait!!!! :D

I am 26 and it seems that i am probably at the younger side of my class. I am in the LPN program, by the way.

I totally agree with you, KC Chick, I would never have been able to make it through this program if i had joined straight after High School. I just didn't have the determination or maturity then.

I really admire the younger students that are taking the nursing courses. They are obviously more together than i was at that age.

I'm 27 y.o. Glad to see that I'm with good company. Being in an evening ADN program, I believe that min age seems to be mid twenties.

I am also 25, 28 after school. And I would have never made through the Rn program after high school. The experience from my Detox center and the living in the real world (whatever the hell that is?!) helps be a better student. This time will be so....

30...and enjoying LEARNING so much more this time around!! My DH was teasing me and saying that I was a "geek" because I got all giddy when I received a 1200 page Chemistry text in the mail a while back. LOL In college the first time, I did everything I possibly could to avoid opening the books, this time I'm reading every single word, and loving every minute of it. :)

(Goodness, maybe I am a "geek"???...I'm taking classes that I don't need OR have to take, because they are fun!!!)

I am 28 will be 29 this year. I am glad to see so many people around the same age. All the students in my classe are 21 or younger.

Hey there Everyone!

I'm 27 married, 0 kids, 2 dogs. I have been working full time during the day and pluggin away at these pre-req's in the evenings! I will begin the actual Nursing Program in the Fall. (The anticipation is killing me!) I'm super jealous of the peeps that are able to take the nursing program in the evening, the schools around here just dont give students that option. Well, I guess I'm one of the older ones! I'm 31...married with two daughters (ages 6 1/2 and 3) and a dog. I have a B.A. in English and have been working in editorial and administrative jobs since I graduated the first time around in 1992. The first time around, I didn't know what I wanted to major in or "do" with my life in terms of a career. I just went to college and got a degree because that's what was expected of me. (Tried to tell my parents I didn't know what I wanted to do but they wouldn't hear of any deviation from the standard of college-right-after-high-school.) So, after exploring a zillion different ideas for careers for me, I finally (around age 29-30) looked into nursing and realized it is (or will be) the perfect fit for me. Motherhood actually was a big factor in my realization that it was something I would enjoy and do well in. So, that's my "short" story.

I am very lucky in that I have a WONDERFUL hubby who cooks, cleans, is a great dad, etc., etc. BUT he is also working hard toward advancing his career and when I'm done with school, he'll be going back to school for an additional degree. We are both super-busy. So juggling is a challenge. Just when things are in a tag-team routine, one of the kids gets sick, or has a school holiday or half-day and we're juggling again.

Still, being older and having kids is a serious motivating factor for getting it DONE and getting it done RIGHT.

34 Y/O MARRIED, ONE CHILD, AND A DOBERMANN (THE ABSOLUTE KING OF DOGS)

AM THROUGH WITH ALL PREREQS EXCEPT MATH...AM IN SECOND SEMESTER OF AN ADN PROGRAM AND WORK CURRENTLY (AND WILL THRU SCHOOL) 60 HRS PER WEEK AS A PARAMEDIC.

MOST OF THE STUDENTS IN MY CLASS ARE MY AGE OR OLDER.
