I had 265 yesterday and feel really good about the last set of questions (especially #265). I'm SCARED, though. Anybody know what the chances of passing are at 265??? Thanks!

I second that? I just took the exam today and finished in 265. Im freaking out, but they do say that if you are still be asked questions, you are not failing, but i just don't know.I hope there is lots of input on how many of those that pass in 265 questions.

there is always 50/50 chance of passing. i had 265 questions and i failed and my cousin had the same and she passed.
good luck to you guys.
Leilah--Did you feel good about your last question (and last set of questions)? What about your cousin? I heard that if you get to that point, your last question can make or break you.
Surgnurse26--Good luck! Apparently at my school, everyone that has had 265 has passed... So I'm HOPING to continue the trend. Let me know what happens and I'll definitely do the same. I should know something around lunchtime on Monday with Quick Results!!! I can't WAIT all weekend... Goodness... The waiting is HORRIBLE!

The chance of passing, for a US-educated, first-time tester is ~85%. The number of questions you receive doesn't enter into that equation.

HI! I just took my NCLEX today and it stopped at 265. I felt that most of the test was hard but like "surgenurse26" said, I felt the last 5 or so questions to be easy ones. I was never a good test taker in school. I generally did well on papers and clinical but when it came time to take a test I was always just borderline on the pass/fail line. Well good luck to us! I hear way too many people posting, "THe computer shut off at 75 and I passed". Lets hope that 265 is our lucky number!
oh question for leilah75, your from California like me, how long did it take you to get your results? I have heard 2-4 weeks, and they told me 10-14 days at the testing center. I hope it posts fast so I can get on with it, or start preparing to take it again.

Well, I've had 265 questions 3 times. I passed the last time around. So I don't really know what to think about 265 questions.

Actually, Kaplan says it does. By the time you get to 265 questions, your chances of passing drops to 50 percent. But, that still means you have a 50/50 chance of passing.
The way they explain it is this: there are a series of questions that are both above and below passing level. Above passing level questions are more difficult. So it all depends on when you can put a string of right answers together for the more difficult above passing level questions, or not.
If you do that early in the test then, that's when it shuts down. By the same token, if you've dug a hole with too many answers below passing level then it shuts down. You can still fail if you shut down at 75 but, chances are, you probably put that string of difficult right answers together early on.
If you're somewhere in between where you're getting some of the above passing level questions right but not enough of them to pass then, the test keeps giving you chances to put the required string of difficult right answers together up to 265.
This is why your chances of passing can diminish somewhat the further you go because you probably haven't put that string of difficult right answers together yet. You can still do it, and a lot of people do ... but, the chance of success does drop.
