In one LTC facility where I worked, we had a resident who finally moved her bowels after a week or so of FOS status. The CNA who "caught" the BM in a commode pot was laughing so hard she could barely stand up as she showed me a massive stool in the exact shape of an exclamation point. I mean, the "point" alone was the size of a softball. But the funniest part was when the resident herself took a look at it and said, "Well, I guess that gives new meaning to the term 's*** fit'!"
Typically we say (quietly of course) pt.s engine jammed in neutral/park, Uhaul has not left the driveway, stuck in traffic,
A "code brown" (not a real code obviously) means get the mop, bucket, disinfectant, cleaning rags, total bed linen, gown(s), socks, and new wound dressing materials. That means somoene's enema was VERY successful.
don't have CNA's or PCT's in my unit. Need them though. Silly to have RN's only to do what some one else could do. Please don't think I am prima donna, I did 5 years as a CNA & part of that in home health, where there is often NO help & part of it in the VA system, where I had NO help.
I now do it in my unit where the if often NO help because we are all so busy, you just get busy & wipe booty by yourself....they will poop again soon eventually!!!

I'll have to share that one!
BTW. There is a Code Brown team! there called CNA's. (not bashing aides). Because some of us practically run when we here about some one doing a neandrathal painting on the wall.
I'm a CNA right now, someone runs away i call them back. Why should they miss out on all the fun. lol
About 'painting' all I can say is thank the LORD our rooms don't have curtains or are close to walls!!!!!
