Interesting question since your profile says you live in the Bay area. Have held up to four jobs simultaneously, both nursing and nursing/other line of work mixed. Paid my bills and provided for my family. Didn't do wonders for my health.

I don't work other jobs besides nursing, but I do think about it.

I don't but I know LOTS of LVN's that do have seond jobs to pay the bills. Most of them work at 2 different nursing homes....not exactly what your question asked, but my take.
p.s. There was an LVN at the last place with a different night job. She was a stripper at a local club and would do that at night after working the 6 -2pm shift!

:monkeydance: Moonlighting as a stripper?!! :barf01: :smackingf That defeats the purpose of obtaining a nursing license!!! She should have just gotten a 2nd nursing job!
Yeah, I was shocked when I heard it.

I am in LPN school, and in my opinion most LPN's do make decent money...in my eyes GOOD MONEY, for only 9-12 months of schooling, I know LPN's in certain area's only make $12 an hour....but others make $20 wich is good in my eyes. Are they living above of what they can really afford? in Debt? or is the pay really not as good as i thought? hmm
I am sure that she gets paid very well there.

Why would that defeat the purpose of being a nurse? She isn't hurting anyone! I'm not saying I agree with being a stripper but I'd like to know the logic behind your comment......
:monkeydance: LOGIC?!! It defeats the purpose of her education because she should have wanted to get her nursing license in order to provide a better life for herself/family without having to sell her body/ degrade herself for cash:uhoh3: !! I've had financial problems, but I didnt resort to stripping/prostitution/selling drugs or any other immoral/ soul crushing activity to get fast cash. For someone to have a nursing license and still choose to strip on the side IMO they need to get their priorities/ moral compass straight.(Judgemental-yes, but everyone judges everybody!!!)
You cant move forward while walking backwards!!!

Talk about getting priorities straight??? How come every job I have had (3) in the medical field more than half of the nurses and medical personell SMOKE???? This includes RN's and Doctors. Did they totally waste their time going to school for their degrees and licenses?
I really don't believe stripping is a "reputable profession" but I also don't think you can lump it together with selling drugs and prostitution!!! I say to each his own. Maybe I wouldn't participate in the same activity but I'm sure as heck, not going to judge anyone. Isn't that what nurses are supposed to do? Not judge but help, care and show compassion??
More than half the dr and nurses smoke!! Wow, I have never came across that many. I have seen a hand full here and there. MAny may have become addicted to cigarettes before joining the medical profession. With that said, any person in the medical field that decides to start smoking now, in this day and age with all we know about the harmful side effects, is an absolute moron.
