How many lbs have you gained/lossed during nursing school?

Published

Between clinicals, lectures, labs, studying, working, family ect..., how can nursing students stay 'healthy'?

I was just curious how many pounds people have gained or lost from the first day of nursing school to now because they have only time to eat fast food and coffee or no money and no time to eat at all?

Also, if you are a lucky student who still has their figure, what is your seceret?

Good idea for a thread! I've always been curious about this topic. I work at a desk job now and have put on about 20 lbs. in the last 2 years from sitting all of the time. I'm hoping that the level of activity involved with Nursing will help keep me in shape and also motivate me to work out regularly.

Lost a pound or two since I stared school on Sept 2. I am trying to be more active. I park as far as possible from my classes, plus I take a walk at break. I have always battled with my weight. So far this year I have lost 26 pounds. I am trying to lose 100, so 74 more to go. I have given myself two years to do it.;)

Being a fulltime student, I had to quit my job so I have no money to buy the extras at the cafeteria at school. I purposely only keep one dollar in my wallet when I leave the house each morning so I can't stop along the way to pick up something to eat. I also pack a health lunch and snacks every day.

I'll lose pounds but they manage to find my forwarding address and send their relatives to visit

While taking the pre req courses to make me a "more rounded person", I've managed to round my orifice out to an extra 15 pounds. Hopefully I'll lose it before graduation in May!

Ok i am not in nursing school, but I have been in college, and boy that freshmen 10-15 is a real thing, most my friend blew up, i manage to gain only 5, but still i gained but i did excercise alot though, but ate alike a little piggy, junk wise

Sometimes I feel like I sit all day long and am getting skin breakdown on my butt (lecture days) but the constant activity on clinical days definitely makes up for it. I've not lost or gained and was where I wanted to be to begin with. :) I actually feel better because I'm happy with my career choice (for the first time in 10+ years) and I've taken great pains to only take lunches/snacks that are healthy instead of living off of cafeterias and vending machines. I'm definitely drinking way too much caffeine so will work on that little problem after I graduate.

Lost 5 lbs since August 11th...but I really did not have those lbs to lose....

Uff, have had enough problems with weight when working an active, labor type job. Now that I've quit my job (3 years ago) and started nursing school, hate to even look at a scale or mirror with all the sitting I do for lectures, studying, careplans, writing out drugs, and stress. At least clinicals keep me busy but have lost alot of muscle tone. My robust appetite and age doesn't help either. I definitely need some good motivation.

hmmm...I have lost 15 pounds since I am denied for the fall and spring semester. However, if I am accepted at FSU for the Spring 2004, I will keep the weight off because I will be struggling with my 4 year old to school as I do not have any money to keep her in daycare. I hope to take off another 20 pounds.

Wish me luck! Ha! Being a mother is rough!

Gained 15 and I hate it.
