hello, i hear nurses complain all the time about their jobs and was just wondering if anyone would consider leaving nursing if given an opportunity with an equal or slightly higher pay,(yes i say slightly higher pay, maybe a dollar or 2 more/hr) and a reliable job off course. any thoughts.

It would depend on what the job was. If it was something I hated ... or disapproved of ... or that would make me feel sleazy ... etc. then "NO." I would remain a nurse.
However, if the "other job" made a valuable contribution to society that would enrich my life /soul/etc. as well as enrich my bank account ... and I would enjoy the other job ... then I would switch.
I don't NEED to be a nurse ... but I CHOOSE to be a nurse because it fulfills my desire to serve a noble purpose in life while also affording me a reasonable lifestyle. I would consider other fields of work IF they offered an equivalent means of contributing to society while offering a more luxurious lifestyle. But I wouldn't do just anything for a few more bucks.

It depends on what day it is! Today I would go in a heart beat. But, I just got home and I think the whole facility where I work is crazy, disorganized, the nurses are over worked, etc.

No. I don't think anything else could be nearly as interesting, or fulfilling. Plus I only work three shifts a week, very few other jobs offer that.

No, I wouldn't. I have a degree in criminal justice and could easily go and work somewhere making at least twice what I currently make as a CNA. Instead, I work for crap pay at a job I love while working toward nursing school.

I like nursing and I like my job. I only work part time and I do not want a full time day job (I did that as nursing director for a long time). I think I get paid fairly for the job that I do and a couple of bucks an hour would not be worth it for me to change jobs.

I'd take it in a heartbeat. This is not a calling and I am not a nun. I would love a decent paycheck. Oh, to be middle-class sigh....

i would take the job and be a nurse per-diem like 4 shifts a month in nursing or hospital.

Would depend on the job but yes I would have no issue leaving nursing. It used to be my heart back in the day but the way nursing is today, well it has significantly changed and doesnt seem to follow the reasoning I entered nursing in the first place anymore. I was a police officer before I became a nurse and would gladly return to it if I could at this point in my life.

yep would leave in a heart beat or at least work just enough to keep my license then pursue other interest... perhaps the legal field ... certainly not full time with 2 little ones around.. it does pay the bills though..
