How many ADN programs are you applying to for Fall 2013?

Published

Hi everyone! I am applying for Fall 2013 ADN programs (I applied to 3 Entry-MSNs and 1 ABSN, but have been rejected by 3 schools so far). It feels like I must be competing against Harvard grads to get in! LOL!

I really want to start this Fall in a nursing program and bridge to a Masters eventually. I am in California, which is just bananas when it comes to how many applicants there are for nursing programs at community colleges, well actually any nursing program (BSNs and MSNs too). I have a list of 8 schools that I am applying to for Fall, I have knocked out 5 so far submitting my application to WAIT to hear back if I'm in or not. But considering the 500+ applicants to each ADN program, I am just curious how many programs others have applied to who got accepted for Spring 2013 or even in 2012? Whats a good number of schools to apply to now to ensure at least one accepts?

P.S. Its so helpful to have this site to reference and read the encouraging posts when others share their victories as well as the dark moments of discouragement waiting and getting rejected (which is awful:arghh:). We are all future nurses! Never give up!

That's interesting, I didn't know the LVN to BSN or ADN to BSN seats almost never fill in CA (What area are you referring to?). I wonder if that will change once everyone getting their ADN graduates and decides to move forward with a BSN or MSN.

I applied to two. I was a chemistry short for applying to more. I took chem this semester so that if I didn't get in I would be able to apply next semester to more places. I got in both places I applied, and went with my first choice school.

I just found out that I got into the one and only program I applied to. I am so relieved.

Congrats!!

I only applied for one ADN program. Over 350 people apply yearly and only 30 to 40 get accepted. I found out I was accepted on 4/6/13. :) Good luck, don't give up.

Northern :) my current school guarantees 5 LVN seats only filled 2 last cohort. Before that only 3. I looked around at 4 other programs and found basically the same story... Seats unfilled each term.
