Hi everyone! I am applying for Fall 2013 ADN programs (I applied to 3 Entry-MSNs and 1 ABSN, but have been rejected by 3 schools so far). It feels like I must be competing against Harvard grads to get in! LOL!
I really want to start this Fall in a nursing program and bridge to a Masters eventually. I am in California, which is just bananas when it comes to how many applicants there are for nursing programs at community colleges, well actually any nursing program (BSNs and MSNs too). I have a list of 8 schools that I am applying to for Fall, I have knocked out 5 so far submitting my application to WAIT to hear back if I'm in or not. But considering the 500+ applicants to each ADN program, I am just curious how many programs others have applied to who got accepted for Spring 2013 or even in 2012? Whats a good number of schools to apply to now to ensure at least one accepts?
P.S. Its so helpful to have this site to reference and read the encouraging posts when others share their victories as well as the dark moments of discouragement waiting and getting rejected (which is awful:arghh:). We are all future nurses! Never give up!

I am applying to only one adn program. The rest are accelerated BSN programs.

Just one, and I found out yesterday they had over 900 applications for 300 spots. Needless to say I have decided to send out a few more applications.
Yeah, I know the ABSN programs are ideal having a bachelors degree, they just seem so competitive with the limited number of seats and it definitely takes keeping an open mind about relocating to another state (which I do not have much flexibility to do unfortunately). I am really praying I can get into an ADN because it seems at least in CA that a lot of the community colleges that have a relationship with universities to be able to bridge or you have a better chance at getting into the BSN program while working on the ADN or even going for an MSN once you have your RN.
I guess the good thing is that there are options to reaching the same goal in regard to an RN license.
Wow! Just out of curiosity, which school is that?

Hi , i also planning to apply for 10+ Adn Programs for fall 2013 in california. I live in orange county too. Lets keep up our hoPe and encourage each other to overcome this fight.. I applied for 8 Mot schools but got in nowhere so i thought it better to do some thing than nothing
10+ schools, I am almost right there with you! I am planning to apply to an ADN program at a school in San Diego in April as well, but they require all immunization seropositivity tests completed when you submit the app. I've had all my immunizations, but its been a while for a few of them so I need to get on that to make the deadline. Definitely don't lose hope and stay determined! You will get in! Plus, don't let not getting in deter you (I have had my share of 4 rejection letters), it just means the timing wasn't there, but there is a school for you and it will eventually happen. The application process definitely reminds me that there is a "season for everything"...season for waiting, being sad, being happy, etc., and I hope that going through the process makes us stronger students because we will know how badly we worked to get there and be reminded of that throughout life and it will allow us to be a light to others bringing encouragement and motivation one day.

Just one for me. If I don't get in, then I'm putting Plan B into effect!

You guys are so fortunate to have so many options!! I live in a very small town in Kentucky and only have 1 program close to me that I am applying for...If this one doesn't work it will be a 2 hour drive to the next closest program. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well for me. I will know by June 15th and this is going to be the longest wait ever LOL!

3 ADN, 3 BSN, and 2 LVN! No stone unturned! In my area of Cali the LVN to BSN or ADN seats almost never fill so if need be rather than wait another application round I'm going to do the LVN in the mean time! Then I can guarantee myself a seat if all else fails!
