How long have you waited after an Interview before a response?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I have a Public Health RN position interview two weeks ago and they told me that the process can be very drawn out, taking a few weeks. I am dying of anticipation and praying for an offer....:nailbiting:

in the meantime....what is the LONGEST you waited for a response after interview?

I waited a couple of weeks once. I finally called and told them that I had received another job offer and needed to know the status of my application so I could make a decision (which was true). They extended a job offer that day, which was nice because that was the job I really wanted anyway.

I'm not sure if that's a smart move, so I'm not necessarily recommending that you do the same.

Other than that, I've heard back within a week for the most part.

Had a interview August 7th. Still waiting. I contacted HR a week and a half after to the interview to be told they had an unexpected hiring freeze and a decision could not be made until the end of September.

I feel constantly on edge, waiting for their phone call.

I am trying to be patient Sargazer....but sometimes I feel like I want to do what you did ;) I am trying to behave.

Wow noyesno....that is crazy!! I had a friend recently take a job as a corrections nurse. A few days later she received a call stating due to their budget they could no longer let her fill the position. She was devastated. I need employment desperately....ugh.

I've had at least 5 times in my career a job cancelled on me; 1 when I was a LPN for a Stepdown unit; and this past year I had 3 jobs that I was a sting candidate for get cancelled because of a hiring freeze. I had one job that was trying to get me a working interview not call me back; after I kept in contact with them.

It took me two months to start a job after I accepted the position, and a month for them to make the decision; so it was a 3 month wait; and it was a 2 month wait for the interview to occur after the first initial phone screen.

For my current job it took me all of 3 weeks to get the job. They phone screened me, I went through two interviews within a week; references were in within a week and a half; and they hired me.

I have been unemployed for over a year now, endured a long Job Search, many non-productive interviews, and this is a position I REALLY want. Not to mention I have bills to pay....

I was a past public health nurse and love the specialty......waited 6 months just to get an interview. Oh please god.....let them hire me lol!

Anyone else waited a long time?

I had an interview for a correctional nurse position last end of July and never heard a word after despite follow ups :( The waiting was torture because I had no idea if I was rejected or not. It would have been nice you know if they at least sent a short rejection letter - better than not knowing the status at all.

Anyway I had another interview for a different facility - still a Correctional nurse position. That was more than two weeks ago and I heard my references have been called last week. Still have not heard anything till now although they said to wait at least one month. I know how you feel I desperately need this job too; haven't had much luck with the job hunting for over a year.

Good luck to us and do give an update of your status!

I had an initial interview in May, a second interview in September, and will finally be starting the position this month. So 5 months from the first interview until my start date!

I've had many interviews.

A few I never heard back, some the next day.

A public health offer came in about 2 weeks. In your case, they already gave you a time frame and a reason it could take WEEKS.

Any more interviews lined up?

Dont have more interviews lined up; still sending out applications. altho I will be starting a travel position in November. Would really like to find out the status of my latest interview before starting the travel job though.

I interviewed for a position in May and received the offer in August, completely out of the blue. I assumed I hadn't made the cut and never made any follow up calls past the first one.
