I was just wondering how long everyone was on waitlists for Maricopa county schools? I was told that if I apply for most of the community colleges my wait could be as little as a year. Does this seem accurate to everyone?
Thanks!! :nuke:
I wanted to do that same thing. I started volunteering there right after I first moved here, but so changed my mind. How long ago did you start the program? Also, how long were you volunteering before you applied?
I started the program in Jan 08. I had been volunteering since April, but I know people who started volunteering after me and were in my class. The girl I know of had a 4.0 for her prereqs, which counts for the affiliate slots.
I just finished Block I, and I like the program. I know of other students who didn't have the great clinical experience that I did, just for lack of slots. They weren't able to be in the hospital for as much time for their clinicals. We got 2 10 hr days on the floors each week. Plus it was nice to finish class and walk across the street to pick my patient, then drive home and do my care plan.
Boswell out in Surprise/Sun City area and somehow is under the Mesa CC system. However, it can be listed as a choice. My guess is that there aren't as many applicants on that side of town as there are on the central to east side of Phoenix.I'd like to hear from some of the others that did not go the Banner Fellowship route - how long did ya'll wait to get in and what choice did you end up getting?
So do you ever have to go to the MCC campus for classes, or is everything done in Sun City?
That's what I wanted to know, I assumed (bad I know!) that since it was connected with Mesa CC, that it pertained to the Sun City down there near Queen Creek and not out in the West Valley - so I had ixnayed that choice altogether. So do you ever have to go to the MCC campus for classes, or is everything done in Sun City?
I applied at the community colleges in northern arizona and I got in right away. My class started with 80 and at graduation we had 70. I went to Yavapai College in Prescott which was a good school with great teachers. I almost applied down in Phoenix but I heard the waiting list is so long to get in now days, that I'm glad that I stayed in northern arizona.
Hello everyone....
As far as the waiting, when I applied January 2008, I only waited 2 months:D before hearing from them that i was accepted:lol2:. And if you have worked at any of the Sun Health hospitals for a minimum of 6 months, you would be place as a preffered student at the Boswell location. They only have 15 out of 60 seats reserved for employees. And now that they have bumped some of the pre-reqs to core-reqs, I'm sure those seats will fill up fast.
