I was just wondering how long everyone was on waitlists for Maricopa county schools? I was told that if I apply for most of the community colleges my wait could be as little as a year. Does this seem accurate to everyone?
Thanks!! :nuke:

I waited one semester (6 months) but that was before the prequisites changed. Now that they have been reduced, more people qualify to put in their application thus the longer wait times. My friend has been waiting over a year and it doesn't look good for a seat in the August class.
It is true that your wait will be shorter if you choose schools that have the least amount of applicants (i.e. Boswell). However, they always caution you to only apply to the schools you are really TRULY willing to go to. As I remember they only allow you to list 5 locations so choose wisely.
Good luck.

What's the deal with Boswell? Why don't people want to apply there?

I would think the location and subsequent commute for many make it a less popular choice.
Where is it? I didn't see it on the list of Maricopa colleges.......

Isn't Boswell part of the Mesa CC Nursing Program?

I didn't wait at all. I volunteer at JCL, and got directly into their program after finishing my prereqs. I'm in school with people who've waited 1-1/2 years.

I wanted to do that same thing. I started volunteering there right after I first moved here, but so changed my mind. How long ago did you start the program? Also, how long were you volunteering before you applied?

My daughter-in-law and I have both been waiting since last summer for the Maricopa Colleges. I didn't want to wait and started at Yavapai College in Prescott this last January. I am now done with my first semester at Yavapai and we're still waiting for the letter from Maricopa. This means my DIL won't even start until, at least, next January. I will be a year ahead of her by the time she starts. She has many choices on her list. They told us it would be a two semester wait. Obviously, not so.

I had finished my prereqs and applied in March of '07. I have been accepted for the fall semester of this year. Had five Maricopa Community College choices, and was selected for my second choice.

Finished pre-req's in 12/06, applied to MCCD in 1/07, applied to Banner Fellows 5/07, was accepted and started in 10/07. So I guess from finishing pre-req's to starting the program it was 10 months total.
