  1. I went to an information session last month at MSC and they said that there weren't going to be any openings until January 09. How did you manage to get in for August?
  2. So do you ever have to go to the MCC campus for classes, or is everything done in Sun City?
  3. So to me it seems like the experience you will have just depends on the hospital you work at. The people with smaller patient loads seem to enjoy their experience a lot more than those with 6 or 7 patients at a time. That many patients seems like it would even be a bit much for an experienced nurse. No one seems to be upset about the type of work being done, just the amount of people they are having to handle.
  4. I wanted to do that same thing. I started volunteering there right after I first moved here, but so changed my mind. How long ago did you start the program? Also, how long were you volunteering before you applied?
  5. Oh, sorry. I haven't heard anything about that one.
  6. Is Maricopa in Pinal County near Queen Creek? If so,I believe that is going to be Banner Ironwood Medical Center. They are also in the process of building a hospital in Buckeye
  7. What's the deal with Boswell? Why don't people want to apply there?
  8. Do you think student's clinical experience today is less than it should or used to be?
  9. Is not difficult having to work with sick kids? Just the thought of it makes me sad.
  10. Is that pretty much the standard on a med/surg floor, 7 or 8 patients at a time? That seems overwhelming to me. I can't imagine that as a new grad.
  11. I haven't really done much research on Lpn's because I am heading towards being a RN, but from what I have hear there aren't many jobs for LPNs in hospitals. For instance I work for Banner and there are currently only 4 positions posted, as compared to a zillion RN positions. I have heard that a lot of LPNs work in long term care facilities, and I am not sure where else. I have also heard the pay is significantly higher when you work in long term care as well. The highest I've heard was $26/hr. The range Banner has posted is $17.06-27.26. The range for Rns is $25.47-40.69. The only program that I have heard of so far that offers LPN to BSN is Univ. of Phoenix, and I think that is supposed to take 2 years to complete.
  12. Thanks for letting me know, that certainly makes a huge change in my plans. Please let me know whatever else you find out. Thanks!
  13. What is it about med surg floors that make people want to avoid them? I have just started looking into nursing recently and have been reading books and the posts on this site, and there always seems to be a ongoing debate. People ask when they graduate if they should serve time on a med surg floor first, or go straight into a specialty. People talk about med surg like it's the plague. I was just as to what that's about. Thanks!
  14. Is this the Friendly House that you are talking about? http://www.friendlyhouse.org/default.aspx
