....including all pre-reqs and nursing school or diploma?
As far as time it took. I went to a school that required no pre-req's and it took about 1 year for my LPN. I needed to get all the pre-req's done before I could move on. Starting with Algebra I, then Algebra II......The same with sciences. I had to take Biology I, then Human Biology, then Microbiology. (That's 1.5 years by itself.) So I was taking Algebra I, Biology I and English 101 at the same time..et al. All in all it took 3 years until I finished all the pre-reqs and got accepted into a nursing program for my RN. I went to a University to get my BSN. So in all, I went from "What is an ABD Pad?" to "BSN" in 5 years. The good side of it was that I was able to work full time (4 years of which was as an LPN) and raise a family at the same time. My experince as an LPN allowed me to not totally lost (on the floor) when I was hired as technically a "New Grad".
"About 2.5 years for nursing school total, but I have a previous Bachelors degree.
* 1 year for my LPN program
* 6 months to finish up my pre-reqs
* 1 year for my LPN-RN program "
I did the same exept I was in a part time RN Program... 2 classes the winter semester. while i was finishing my Pre-reqs and Co reqs....
It was Hard but Now Ii am an RN... I started as an RN the day after my Nclex test. I would recomend it. I have had Many Job offers.
already had the degree and all preq.
started on the excelsior challenge exams in nov and completed in march.
= 5 months
took some time off.
registered for the cpne in september, took it and passed in december
= 4 months
had to wait till feb to get degree based on deadlines.
passed nclex in april.
so short answer 9 months.
waiting/time off= 9 months, which i worked as graduate rn for almost 3 and had a delightful summer off.
so it can be done in a year for the really motivated, but that was not me!
good luck.
practice safe!
7 years for me for a 2 year degree. I took 1-2 classes at a time and just chipped away...... plus with personal responsibilities with my child with medical issues, and working there was no way I could of done full time. I only went full time when I had nursing itself..... I "technically" have enough credits for a BSN, even maybe an MSN...but not enough in one specific area of study to get me one. I am however going for my BSN maybe this Sept or in Jan because I only need 4 extra nursing classes to get my BSN .......hey...it shouldn't matter how long it took , the only thing that matters is that one did it! Look at the 95 yr old who finally got her BSN...and is going for her MSN......good for her!!!!
I attended a 12 month LPN program, then after 3 years worked full time while attending an AD program which I finished in 2. I did it all in the two years... found out later that most of my fellow classmates had taken all their pre-reqs and such prior to starting the actual nursing program. Silly me... I thought a 2 year program meant you completed everything in 2 years lol. I would go for days without sleep. Classes, labs, clinicals, work, then back to class...
Lather, rinse, repeat
