How long did it take for you to find a job after graduating?

Feeling a little discouraged..over 2 months since graduation, I passed NCLEX on my first attempt with 75 questions..no job yet

Graduated in Feb last year, started working in July of last year (in a hospital, but not my #1 job choice). It's a tough job market, but things do turn up. You just gotta keep looking.

So not going to be helping the situation any but here goes...graduated dec. 15 2011, had a job on nov. 24th 2011 BEFORE graduation...pending passing HESI and NCLEX of course but both are done and I've been working a med-surg internship since Jan. 30...

well believe it or not i was in the same boat...was offered something in a Neuro ICU prior to graduating but my living situation changed quite a bit (boyfriend of 4 years broke up with me..we lived together..i had to move..yada yada yada) so i had to turn the job down. i feel like karma is biting me in the ass now haha! but congrats on your job!
Specializes in pediatrics, public health.

Graduated in May of 2008 and took until November 2008 to get a job -- and the economy is probably worse now than it was then. Two months is nothing. Keep applying, and good luck!

Specializes in Neuro.

It really is a tough job market. I graduated in May 2010 and didn't find a job until Nov 2010 in a TCU (not my first choice, just happy to be employed) Turned out that I learned SO much from that job, when I had worked for a year, happen to "toss out" some applications and was asked to an interview within the same week (not typical!) Happy to have a offer from a great hospital, took to job and now I work on a neuro floor. It seems that eventually you will end up where you want to be, it may take some time and some dues, but be patient, you'll get there. Don't give up!

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

Volunteer job in 1 day after passing NCLEX, paying job within 1.5 months after NCLEX.

Specializes in Orthopedic, LTC, STR, Med-Surg, Tele.

I graduated in May and they offered me an RN position where I already worked as a CNA about a month and a half later.

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

Graduated this past December, was hired for my present acute care position the October before I graduated with an end-of-January start date. About half of my class has found work. In this area the jobs for after graduation are filled before graduation even happens.

Specializes in Reproductive & Public Health.

Graduated Jan 10, took my NCLEX on Jan 26, and currently have two job offers, and am deciding if I should take one or both of them. One job is home health, the other is hospital.

I am looking very hard and applying everywhere in Philadelphia and the suburbs where I live nothing yet. I have multiple job accounts with at least 5 hospitals and every time I applying somewhere I receive "Sorry not selected " next to the application. I applied at least 37 times at the hospital that's affiliated with my nursing school and absolutely nothing. I am told not to worry EVENTUALLY I will receive a call, ugh. To pass the time I have started looking into online BSN programs- that's another headache! So many want 120 credits and I only have 31..but that's another story lol.

What I say to myself-just take one day at a time. Good luck!

Specializes in PDN; Burn; Phone triage.

Passed the NCLEX in early June of 2011. On the advice of a friend, found a pediatric private duty job at a company around here that's pretty well-known for taking just about any warm body that comes through. I still do PRN stuff for them but was hired onto my hospital job in November of 2011. It was a total fluke. I'd written off ever getting hired at this particular hospital and was concentrating on community hospitals, LTC, LTACs, etc in the area but was still sending in job applications to new positions that opened up because it was just one or two clicks.

For me, it seems like the majority of my peers either graduated with job offers or found jobs shortly after graduating. The rest of us seemed to get picked up in a second wave of hiring that happened in the area around October-November.
