How long have you been a nurse

I was thinking and realized that I'm coming up on my 30th year of nursing. When I started we still wore dresses, hats and stockings and carried a pinned fob watch. Everything was done on paper and patients still smoked in their rooms. A lot of years have gone by but I'm still here. How long have you been a nurse?

47 years and still working. Although I have zero tolerance for BS.

So much for 20 and out. We got into the wrong field. I pulled off retirement after 34 years. Be careful what you wish for :)

Too true, my dad wanted me to follow in his footsteps and be a cop. He made more in retirement than I ever made in salary...

Yea, retirement is boring.... I'm hot in the garment of returning to work, till I cognitively, and physically can't....

Oh MY retirement won't be boring. I got a ton of plans: traveling and volunteering among them. And loving on my grandbabies.

I wish it were tomorrow seriously. I would have so much to I might be more busy. But not as tired and worn out.

My sister just informed me that ASN/ADN wasn't a real nurse. Only BSN counts. So the 11 years before I got my BSN don't count. And I thought only certain entities thought this way...I guess in her messed up way of thinking LPNs aren't nurses either

Technically I'm at three years, but if you add in all the overtimes I work, it's closer to five years experience. I wish seniority was calculated by hours worked....
