I am so upset just now. Just called NYSED to check my application status. They said still need a couple of weeks for them to get through my application. I've been waiting for it for around 6 months. Before apply for this, I got the CVS from CGFNS. But ppl in NYSED told me that they didn't belive CGFNS and still need to re-evaluate my education background. It's it sound wired!!:angryfire
I've got the visa to go to US and the expired date of visa is 8th next month. So I have to leave for NY soon. But what if I couldn't take NCLEX soon? My agenct said I won't be albe to live in the free dorm they provide if I couldn't take NCLEX in one month after the arriving and I won't be albe to work either.
Any one have the same problem? Or how long it takes you to get the ATT?

after cvs it generally takes only 2-3 weeks for nysed to send you the eligibility letter. when did cgfns send your report to nysed?
you can take the nclex in hongkong also. but it can not be scheduled until you have the eligibility letter from nybon.
yes, you can not work on b1/b2 visa, it is given for visiting purpose only. but you can file for extension of your stay.
one thing to note- att is not provided by the board of nursing. att is provided to the candidate by pearson vue, the nclex-rn exam contractor. once you get the eligibility letter from the bon, you will have to register with pearson vue and pay the fee ($200, i guess) then, it will send you the authorization to test (att)

cvs is only the credential verification service. cgfns does not evaluate your credentials for nysed. it only collects the educational and licensing information from the issuing authorities on your behalf and forwards the materials to nysed. then nysed evaluates your credentials and determines your eligibility. the time frame also depends upon the volume of application the board is receiving. generally, it does not exceed a month..after cgfns has submitted your report to them.

The issue here is that this nurse has already taken the CGFNS exam, and has a Visa Screen Certificate. And if there is an agency involved, it means that they are coming over on the green card. Unfortunately, I have ben seeing this happen quite bit lately.
That is why some of the interviewers at the US Embassy in Manila are now requiring the nurse to show proof of passing the NCLEX-RN before they are being granted visas. Too many have been finding very hard times when coming to NY and not being able to start work right away. Think aobut living where you are without a paycheck coming in.
Yes, Suzanne4 is right.I will get the green card after arriving NY soon. CGRNS sent the letter to NYSED in Oct. 2005.
Ding:) Hope more ppl who visit this web can see my post.
I will move it for you to the International Forum................

then you should not have problem, ny also provides a limited permit to work. did you apply for that? are you sure that the application for licensure by examination was sent to nysed? or your agency just sent the application to cgfns but not nysed? if nysed had received all set of applications i don't think it should take such a long time. you need to ask the representative clearly -- what is causing the delay and how long it will take......or ask for the supervisor on phone.
ask your agency to find a place for you asap or look for a job yourself. since you already have a green card, you will find a job easily. how long is your contract with your agency? you may consider applying in other fast bons.
Yes I am sure the NYSED got everything they need 4 months ago. I called them many times actually. First, they said they had a backlog. Then they sent me a letter to ask me to explain something. It took me around 20 days to get the letter. :angryfire Why couldn't they send it by both email and letter. After that, they send some documents in my application to be translated. Don't know why do they need a translation since everything is in English.
Talked to my agency today. They said will find me a job before I take the NCLEX. Make me feel better now.
Thank you Suzanne to move my post to international forum. I tought about it today but couldn't do it:p .
And thank you Starbin to give helpful suggestions.
They cannot find you a job as an RN until your documents are accpeted by NY.
And if they find you a job, it will be at a very low salary. That is not the right thing for them to be doing.
And they are responsbile for having a job ready for you when you arrive, not looking just before you arrive. Per immigration documents that the agency signed, they are to be providing full-time work for you. If they do not have anything, it is still their responsibility to be paying you. You are their employee according to what was filed on your behalf.
Please be very careful about this.
This is another reason why I like the NCLEX exam to be done before the nure arrives in the US, or at least have permission to it for the exam, before they come. Too many issues can come up.
